Radiometer and Etiometry Announce Partnership to Improve Clinical Workflows and Patient Care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Etiometry, a leading provider of clinical decision support software for critical care, and Radiometer, a leading medical device company specializing in acute care testing solutions, today announced a new collaboration to improve clinical workflows in neonatal intensive care units (NICU).

The partnership combines Etiometry's platform to provide a holistic view of the patient's clinical picture, enabling rapid, informed decision-making with Radiometer's Transcutaneous Monitoring (TCM) solution focused on monitoring neonatal ventilation. By integrating the Etiometry platform with Radiometer's real-time transcutaneous monitoring solutions, physicians across the continuum of care can view carbon dioxide trends along with other physiological parameters in a consolidated manner on one screen to optimize patient care management.

The data will also help advance Etiometry and Radiometer's clinical research activities aimed at demonstrating minimization of ventilation times and improvement of extubation failure rates, with the aim of helping to reduce the time a patient has to spend in the NICU as well as the costs associated with long NICU stays. In the first phase of the partnership, the proof of concept is validated.

“The care newborns receive in the first hours and days of their life can have a significant impact on their quality of life,” says Henrik Schimmell, CEO and President of Radiometer. “Helping caregivers make informed treatment decisions is therefore critical, and this partnership with Etiometry has the potential to make it easier for physicians to provide the right treatment at the right time.”

Etiometry's platform allows hospitals to embed their specific clinical protocols and workflows into the software, automatically screen all patients for eligibility and track performance once a protocol is initiated. Integrating Radiometer's transcutaneous monitoring data into the Etiometry platform can further reduce the burden of manual protocol management.

“Etiometry brings extensive expertise in managing data analytics with its Clinical Decision Support platform that modernizes clinical workflow management and associated patient care activities through its customizable Clinical Management Application,” said Shane Cooke, President and CEO of Etiometry.

“This partnership with Radiometer strengthens our ability to provide our customers with the essential patient data they need to make informed care decisions.”
