Dark chocolate: The sweet protection against type 2 diabetes!

A new study from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health has revealed startling results on the effects of chocolate, particularly dark chocolate. Regular and moderate consumption of this special chocolate could help significantly reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. Loud Explosive Dark chocolate, rich in polyphenols, protects the body from the negative effects of saturated fat and sugar, which are linked to weight gain and the risk of diabetes.

Scientific findings

The study monitored 192,208 participants over 30 years. The test subjects provided information about their eating habits, weight and diabetes status every two years. The results show that those who consumed five or more servings of dark chocolate per week had a 21 percent reduced risk of type 2 diabetes. In contrast, consumers of milk chocolate had a higher risk of gaining weight and developing diabetes, as did the Giessen General reported.

The key components of these findings are polyphenols, which are found in dark and milk chocolate. These phytochemicals have anti-inflammatory effects and could help promote the elasticity of blood vessels, which could even reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Nevertheless, the German Heart Foundation warns against excessive chocolate consumption, as even one piece containing 40 calories a day can lead to noticeable weight gain over the year.
