What is Ellura?
Ellura is used in alternative medicine as a potentially effective means of preventing urinary tract infections in adult women, children, and people susceptible to urinary tract infections. This medicine is not recommended for the treatment of urinary tract infections.
Other uses that have not been proven by research include: relieving symptoms of an enlarged prostate, reducing urine odor, or improving quality of life in people with urinary incontinence.
It is not certain whether Ellura is effective in treating any condition. Medical use of this product has not been approved by the FDA. This medicine should not be taken in place of medication prescribed by your doctor.
Ellura is often sold as an herbal dietary supplement. There are no regulated manufacturing standards for many herbal compounds and some marketed supplements have been found to be contaminated with toxic metals or other drugs. Herbal/health supplements should be obtained from a reliable source to minimize the risk of contamination.

Before you take this medicine
You should not use this product if you are allergic to Ellura.
Ask a doctor, pharmacist, or other health care provider if it is safe for you to use this product if you have:

a history of kidney stones;

diabetes (some Ellura products may contain large amounts of sugar); or
-
if you are allergic to aspirin or salicylic acid.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before using this product.
Do not give Ellura to a child without medical advice.
How should I take Ellura?
If you are considering using herbal supplements, seek advice from your doctor. You may also consider consulting a doctor trained in the use of herbal/health supplements.
If you decide to use Ellura, use it according to the instructions on the package or as directed by your doctor, pharmacist, or other health care provider. Do not use more of this product than recommended on the label.
Do not use different forms of cranberry (tablets, liquid and others) at the same time, otherwise an overdose could occur.
If you cannot swallow a capsule whole, open it and mix Ellura with a sweet drink, pudding or applesauce. Swallow the mixture immediately without chewing.
You must chew the chewable tablet before swallowing it.
Allow the orally disintegrating tablet to dissolve in your mouth without chewing.
Call your doctor if the condition you are treating with Ellura does not improve or if it worsens while using this product.
Store at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Use Ellura as soon as possible, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not use two doses at the same time.

What should I avoid while taking Ellura?
Follow your doctor's instructions regarding any food, drink, or activity restrictions.
What other drugs will affect Ellura?
Do not take Ellura without medical advice if you are taking:

warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven);
-
a high blood pressure medication such as nifedipine; or
-
a drug for high cholesterol such as atorvastatin.
Other medications may interact with cranberry, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all medications you are taking now and any medications you are starting or stopping taking.
