What is Capex?

Capex side effects
If necessary, get emergency medical helpSigns of an allergic reaction:hives; difficult breathing; Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Capex can have serious side effects. Call your doctor immediately if you have:
-
worsening of your skin condition;
-
Redness, warmth, swelling, oozing or severe irritation of the treated skin;
-
high blood sugar – increased thirst, increased urination, dry mouth, fruity breath smell; or
-
Possible signs of Capex absorption through your skin - weight gain (especially in the face or upper back and torso), slow wound healing, thinning or discolored skin, increased body hair, muscle weakness, nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, mood changes, menstrual changes, sexual changes.
Common side effects of Capex may include:
-
burning, itching or irritation of the treated skin;
-
increased hair growth;
-
white or “trimmed” appearance of the skin;
-
rash, pimples; or
-
Color changes in the treated skin.

Warnings
Follow all instructions on the label and packaging of your medicine. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all your medical conditions, allergies and any medications you take.
Before you take this medicine
You should not use Capex if you are allergic to it.
Tell your doctor if you have ever had:
-
any type of skin infection;
-
a skin reaction to steroid medications;
-
liver disease; or
-
a disorder of the adrenal gland.
Steroid medications can increase the levels of glucose (sugar) in your blood or urine. Tell your doctor if you have diabetes.
It is not known whether Capex will harm an unborn child. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
Breastfeeding may not be safe while using this medication. Ask your doctor about any risks. When applying fluocinolone to the breast, avoid areas that may come into contact with the baby's mouth.
Do not use this medicine on children without medical advice. Children may absorb larger amounts of this medicine through their skin and may be at higher risk of side effects.
How should I use Capex?
Follow all instructions on your prescription label and read any medication guides or instructions for use. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Do not take orally. Topical medicines should only be used on the skin.
Carefully read and follow all instructions for use that come with your medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you do not understand these instructions.
Wash your hands before and after using fluocinolone, unless you are using this medicine to treat the skin on your hands.
Apply a thin layer of the medicine to the affected skin and rub gently. Do not apply this medicine to a large area of skin unless directed by your doctor.
Do not cover the treated area of skin with a bandage or other covering unless your doctor tells you to do so. Covering the treated areas may increase the absorption of the medication through the skin and may cause harmful effects.
When treating the diaper area, do not use plastic pants or tight-fitting diapers.
Shake fluocinoloneshampoogood just before each use. Apply to the scalp, lather and rinse thoroughly after 5 minutes.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after using this medication for two weeks.
You should not suddenly stop using fluocinolone. Follow your doctor's instructions for reducing the dose.
Store at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat. Do not freeze.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Use the medicine as soon as possible, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not apply two doses at the same time.
What happens if I overdose?
Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help hotline at 1-800-222-1222 if someone accidentally swallows the medication.
High doses or long-term use of Capex may result in thinning skin, easy bruising, changes in body fat (particularly in the face, neck, back, and waist), increased acne or facial hair, menstrual cramps, impotence, or loss of interest in sex.
What should I avoid when using fluocinolone topically?
Avoid using Capex on the face, underarms, or groin area.
Do not use Capex to treat any skin condition that has not been evaluated by your doctor.
What other drugs affect Capex?
The medicine used on the skin is unlikely to be affected by other medicines you use. But many medications can interact with each other. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products.
