10 reasons for depression and what to do

You're neurotic

In simpler terms, you are a worrier. At a meeting, you are most likely alone, lost in your own thoughts, thinking about what you could have said or done last year to change your entire situation. They worry about the past, now and the future. You probably look at others and try to figure out how to keep smiling. You want to stop thinking, but you don't know how. If you constantly worry, you continue to complicate problems and still have no solution. Then it becomes an addiction. Next, you start questioning people's thoughts and their answers, and then you have to question your own sanity. You must have heard the saying “Worry is useless”, although it is not completely useless as it can be okay to worry about problems. It shows that you are a considerate person and willing to offer solutions. But I have to learn to let go and relax sometimes. Obsessive worrying can lead to depression.

You are a perfectionist

You see one crease in your fabric as you iron it, irritating you so much until you straighten it out. That one spot on the plate makes you so angry that you can't ignore it. They immediately fall out of place if something doesn't go as planned. You are probably a (DIY) do-it-yourself guy, your touch makes it perfect. You love order so much that a second of chaos can cause you distress. You can sometimes be too hard on yourself, even in trivial matters. It can be beneficial to be pedantic, but it can lead to many disappointments as you further increase your expectations of things from people, food, environment and your lifestyle.

Pessimistic

Negative thought patterns are usually behind most people's depression. You find it difficult to be optimistic. Once a goal is set, you immediately think of a million ways it could go wrong. Maybe you have a good idea, and when it comes along you immediately think, “No one would buy that.” “It’s not good enough.” Can you see the link? Are you neurotic, perfectionistic and perhaps pessimistic? Life is full of uncertainty and approaching life with such a state of mind is detrimental not only to the psyche but also to overall well-being. You have to learn to change your thought process. You can start by reaffirming to yourself how much you need to be positive whenever a negative thought arises. Try meditating, taking time to be alone, and trying to calm your racing thoughts.

Stressed

You may be under pressure from work, school, or trying to meet the expectations of friends and family. Maybe you find it difficult to balance work, social and family life. The pressure of all this can leave you feeling sluggish and discouraged. Here's what you can do. Form a routine and make it a habit to follow any routine you set for yourself. As humans, we function optimally when we set a goal for what to do. You can even set a goal for the next minute and make sure you see it through. Dealing with stressors properly can prevent a lot of mental chatter.

Undecided

When it comes to making and making decisions, you're always pussyfooting. You may be afraid or short-sighted about taking this bold step. Every minute of our life requires us to take action, from waking up, taking a bath, doing household chores to the stage where we make important live decisions. Being indecisive would cause you to hesitate a lot and that could leave you feeling unfulfilled. This could make it harder to get that monkey off your back.

Impatient

Our minds work in a way that wishes everything to happen in an instant. We can be too zealous about situations where it breaks us if it takes longer than usual to happen. You have to first understand that everything follows a process. You haven't started speaking in a day. It took them several years to grow up. Everything happens gradually. Let go of the illusion that things should happen as quickly as you want. The universe does not follow your will and you have no power over how events unfold. You only have control over how it affects you. It is said that good things take time. Patience helps you deal with uncertainty better.

Highly sensitive

Are you the type who is easily offended, feels emotions deeply, feels uncomfortable in large crowds, and is quick to assume you will be judged? Then you can be very sensitive. Highly sensitive people are more sensitive to dealing with depression, especially those who have suffered trauma. Repressed thoughts of the trauma could cause grief for the individual. Know that it's okay to let it out, grief is expected, it allows you to heal. Also, make sure you get to the root of the trauma and what is causing your pain. It's as simple as asking why I'm sad. or ‘how did I get here?’ Otherwise you would constantly grieve and forget to heal.

Wishes

Sometimes it is the image of how perfect it should be, where we should be, that causes us pain. As humans, we are goal-oriented and are only satisfied when our long-held dreams are fulfilled. But sometimes we have and hold very unrealistic expectations and make ourselves miserable. For example, if you want to own the latest Lamborghini Murciélago and your income can't even afford a scooter. Then you sulk about your inability to buy the Lamborghini. You want to tailor your coat according to your size and stop longing for things that are out of your reach. Just try to appreciate the little things and stay happy with what you have.

Not spiritual

You may not be spiritually inclined as you are tired of waiting to be saved by a deity in this grave time of hurt. But faith in a supreme being can be the saving grace at this time. Each individual operates with different belief systems. I believe we are nothing without some form of faith. Some find success in believing in a Supreme Being in times of need, and psychologically it has proven to be a very useful coping mechanism when dealing with depression. Reconnect with your spiritual side, light that fire, pray and allow yourself to be revived.

Cherophobic

Over time, you may have conditioned yourself to be averse to things that make you happy. This could be because you don't want to be rejected or disappointed again. So they have adapted well to this gloomy lifestyle and accepted the gloomy state as the status quo. Therefore, don't expect anything to cheer you up. In fact, you are petrified of being happy. Make a conscious effort to change your thought pattern. If possible, change the environment you live in and the activities you do. Also, try as much as possible to remember and reflect on the good times. Remember that you weren't always like this. This will help adjust this unhealthy state of mind and absorb positive thoughts.

It is also advisable to seek medical help when dealing with depression. You can see a psychologist and attend therapy sessions. Cognitive behavioral therapy CBT is also a good treatment for depression. Never be ashamed to seek help. You deserve all the happiness in the world.
