Who invented painkillers and other facts?

Who invented Demerol? Where exactly does it come from? What does it do? How does it compare to other painkillers? Anyone who has ever been prescribed this particular pain medication has probably wondered about the answers to these questions and many more. That is certainly understandable. Of course, most of us want to know as much as possible about what goes into our bodies.

Unfortunately, by all accounts, the inventor of Demerol remains a mystery. However, we know that the drug was already manufactured in Germany around the turn of the century. Some report it was in the 1920s, while others think it was closer to the 1930s. However, it is clear that the drug has been around for a long time.

Specifically, Demerol is actually known as Pethidine or sometimes as Meperidine. It is in fact known by a number of different names including but not limited to: Lidol; isonipecaine; Piridosal; pethanol; Alodan; Dispadol; Algil; and Mefedina, to name a few. It is more commonly known just as Demerol in Canada and the United States.

Demerol is used to treat moderate to severe pain. It can be administered in different ways. In the hospital, it is typically given as an intravenous injection or as a liquid syrup. However, prescriptions usually come in tablet form.

Demerol is considered an opioid and is the painkiller of choice for many, many doctors to treat severe pain. This is because it is considered much safer than morphine. In addition, the risk of addiction is considered to be far lower than with other painkillers.

However, this may not be as true as previously thought, leading to restricted use of the drug in many countries. Nevertheless, Demerol is still prescribed in many cases and is the first choice for many doctors.
