One of the ills of being a teenager with raging hormones is the appearance of unsightly pimples and acne. This is caused by the increased activity of the sebaceous glands on the skin. Acne occurs when pustules or pus form on the pores of the skin full of bacteria. Popping and squeezing can make the pimple or acne worse as our nails and fingers also carry a lot of germs that can contaminate the skin. Additionally, some acne sores disappear on their own but still leave a pinch of scar on the skin. Acne scars are one of the major skin problems faced by both men and women, and a number of dermatological procedures have been performed to remove or minimize acne scars.

It was recently reported that the late Michael Jackson was suffering from severe acne and scarring due to his plastic surgery. His doctor reported that he treated the King of Pop's famous (or infamous) face to prepare him for his comeback concert performance, which was due this year. Michael Jackson's doctor also dispelled rumors that his nose had fallen off and that Jackson had come to the clinic to have it repaired. However, the doctor confirmed that Jackson was worried and embarrassed due to his previous experience of his family sometimes teasing him about the size of his nose. Still, it's interesting to know how normal it seems that the King of Pop can also have the same acne problems as any other person.

There are now many acne treatment procedures available to the public. One of the most effective and least painful treatments is laser surgery. However, laser treatment is also the most expensive. The great thing is that acne scars disappear permanently, sometimes with just a single procedure. Another form of treatment involves making small incisions in the scar and injecting collagen into it. This allows the skin to expand, tighten and become smoother. It is also painful and sometimes requires local anesthesia.
