What is Acne? Acne is basically the result of blockage of the sebaceous (oil) glands in our skin and is a health condition that, like the common cold, has not yet found a definitive cure. What is Acne?
Acne is basically the result of blockage of the sebaceous (oil) glands in our skin and is a health condition that, like the common cold, has not yet found a definitive cure. Sometimes it is genetic, often not. Acne usually occurs in our teenage years, but sometimes we can suddenly get a breakout in our 30s or 40s (stress or hormonal changes). Most over-the-counter treatments are intended for external, topical use. However, to achieve the best and long-lasting results, acne treatment must be done internally.
About the treatment.
First, I always recommend dietary changes and herbal supplements (to stimulate liver and bowel movements) for deep cleansing and detoxification. Also drink plenty of water to really flush out the system.
Successful acne treatment must include balancing hormone levels, detoxifying the body and boosting immunity.
Being 15 and suffering from acne can be extremely stressful. I've added some reflex points you can work on to help your teen cope better emotionally. Often stress can cause further inflammation and make things worse.
OK, here it is:
The Ultimate Acne Treatment:
• Start each day with a glass (or two) of water with a tablespoon (or two) of freshly squeezed lemon juice.
• Use an herbal formula containing dandelion (to cleanse the liver), calendula and burdock (to relieve skin inflammation), yellow dock (eliminates chronic skin problems, promotes bowel movements, promotes liver function).
• Reduce fatty, sugary foods!
Reflexology points to work on (open and print a foot map here):
For cleansing and detoxification:
• Cervical lymph nodes
• Liver
• Innards
• Kidneys and bladder
• Lungs
For hormonal and immune boost:
• Pituitary gland (hormonal balance)
• Thyroid
• Adrenal glands (also a good point against stress)
• Thymus gland
For anti-stress:
• Solar plexus (holding point on both feet simultaneously at the end of the treatment)
Wow, that's a pretty good treatment! Give it once or twice a week for at least a month along with the herbal supplements and you will see a huge improvement in no time
