It happens every spring. As soon as the avocado tree in the front yard starts blooming, I have serious asthma problems. In autumn, the sycamore maple usually grows in the park. With these allergies, blood pressure increases. Spring: Allergies aren't the only problem that can cause a seasonal increase in high blood pressure. When I was growing up, spring was time to plant the garden. It can be very strenuous work and since it often involves bending over or crawling on hands and knees (depending on the plant), our numbers can increase.

Seasonal blood pressure problems

It happens every spring. As soon as the avocado tree in the front yard starts blooming, I have serious asthma problems. In autumn, the sycamore maple usually grows in the park. With these allergies, blood pressure increases.

Spring: Allergies are not the only problem that can cause a seasonal increase in high blood pressure. When I was growing up, spring was time to plant the garden. It can be very strenuous work and since it often involves bending over or crawling on hands and knees (depending on the plant), our numbers can increase.

While most students wouldn't realize it, the final spring problem is actually the finale. This is partly the concern about the tests themselves, but the most likely candidate is energy drinks. Students view them as a way to get a few extra hours of study. That may be unwise. The reaction of the nervous system is unlikely to improve the test result.

Summer: Most Americans walk around in a permanent state of dehydration. By the time we are thirsty, the process is already well underway. Dehydration causes our numbers to rise.

Two other problems can cause this condition to increase in the summer. Too much sun, even if it doesn't cause heat exhaustion or heat stroke, can cause this condition. So can bites or stings, especially in allergy sufferers.

Falling: Ah, the holidays. Costumes, parties, gift shopping...stress are all part of it. Some people actually need medication to get through this time. Please remember that there are people who have good reasons not to enjoy them. You may be alone or have a death in the family. Spreading cheer must be done with compassion.

winter: This is the period when most of us are likely to get sick. It's not because the weather is making us sick. It's because the weather brings us all inside. In some places, injuries from ice and snow are likely.

The most serious illness associated with high blood pressure is cabin fever. It becomes irritating to be stuck at home (or any other place) for days. Arguments and fights are likely. Everyone just wants to get out.

It may take some planning to work around these seasonal issues. Study earlier and cramming is not necessary. Talk to the doctor about allergies. Make sure you drink enough even if you're not thirsty. Plan new activities in bad weather. These could help keep your blood pressure under control.
