Like mildew, mold belongs to the fungal family. They differ from other plants or animals because of their unique reproduction methods. Their seeds are called spores. If an allergic patient inhales spores, symptoms such as sneezing and difficulty breathing may occur. In addition to the air, mold can also grow in food. Although it is only a small percentage, people with an allergy to mold can also have the same allergy to food. My mother cannot eat foods processed with mold, such as soy sauce, “tempeh” or fermented cassava, while I don’t have the same allergy.
Although it is not a processed food, peanut can also cause allergy to the mold alfatoxin, a toxin found in corn, wheat, soy and sorghum, as well as peanuts. Other foods that can trigger the allergy include mushrooms, melons, berries, beer, smoked meats and some grains, as well as some cheeses such as blue cheese. Other dairy products such as milk are believed to contain alfatoxin if it comes from cows fed moldy feed. The most common molds in food are Aspergillus and Rhizopus.
How can we prevent and cure mold allergy through our diet?
As with any other food allergy, it's best to stay away from foods you're allergic to. You need to get an allergy test to confirm the exact foods that are causing your food allergy and include those foods in your restricted diet. Some people try organic diet to stay healthier. However, because organic products do not contain chemical fungicides, they can mold more quickly than non-organic products.
How to heal?
Allergy is the body's reaction to a toxic situation. In most cases, the allergy-causing toxins are non-natural substances. It also occurs with a mold allergy. Therefore, trying to cure the allergy through pharmaceutical drugs does not seem appropriate since these drugs are also toxic.
The best way to cure this allergy and all other allergies would be a natural cure. Herbal therapy, homeopathy, and acupuncture/acupressure are some of the natural medication methods you can try. Of course, suddenly stopping medication would also be unwise. You should consult your doctor before slowly replacing your treatment with natural substances.
Allergy is a unique disease that we often cannot make go away, but through a consistent and healthy diet and lifestyle, you can live normally with allergies or even asthma.
