Sinus Pressure - The Allergies and Food Compounds

Could allergies or some foods be the root cause of your sinus problems, especially sinus pressure? Finding out could mean less suffering and save time and money. Here we go to the cause and effect relationship that might exist between them; and explain an easy way to find out. Finally, we'll offer some suggestions that can help keep your sinus pressure in check.

What is sine pressure really?

Whenever anything in the environment - pollen, pollutants, chemicals, dust, smog - irritates the membranes in the nose and sinuses, the body attempts to remove the irritant by producing an extra amount of mucus to moisten and protect these membranes. Additional secretion is also caused by viral infections or “colds”. In both cases, the mucus is so abundant that it cannot flow quickly enough from the sinus into the nasal cavity and therefore accumulates. Irritation of these membranes causes swelling and blocks the small opening through which mucus and air flow. The result is sine pressure.

The allergy connection

Allergy is an abnormal reaction of the body to a substance - aAllergen. It can be inhaled, ingested, or brought into contact with the skin. The allergic reaction can be severe and accompanied by a large amount of sinus mucus and swelling of the sinus membranes, blocking the sinus opening and causing pressure and pain. Two common environmental allergens are house dust and pollen. Whenever sinus pressure is caused by allergies, the allergen in question must be identified. This is done precisely through allergy tests by a doctor. If an environmental allergen is identified, injections may be given in increasing doses to desensitize the body to the allergen. The sinus pressure would then gradually disappear. In less severe cases, the use of an antihistamine is often sufficient.

The food connection

Empirical data - derived from experience - strongly suggests a connection between certain foods and some sinus problems. As a former sinus sufferer, I can attest to this. Whenever the use of these foods was stopped for a period of time, the sinus condition would disappear until they were used again. You can try this approach and judge the results for yourself.

Prevention of sinus pressure

The best way to deal with an illness is to prevent it. It would make sense to reduce or drop the use of certain mucus-producing foods. If allergies may be the cause of the problem, foods containing or producing histamine should be avoided. This information allows you to adjust your diet.

Often the solution to sinus pressure has been found by simply adjusting the diet and also using a simple remedy, whether medicinal or natural. Safe experimentation with a good amount of common sense was how some of us found the cure for sinus pressure. Try it and you might surprise yourself with the results.
