Is chiropractic care considered a safe treatment option for asthma?
Asthma is not just a health problem that causes difficulty breathing, but a disease that can lead to death if not treated properly. Today, the number of people living with asthma has skyrocketed. The significant increase in asthmatics is due to diets consisting of processed foods that cause allergic reactions and high levels of environmental pollutants. While some people control asthma with more conventional methods, many people have turned to chiropractic care.
Asthma is a life-threatening disease that requires proper maintenance and treatment. Because chiropractic care takes a completely different approach than standard medicine, people want to know if it is a viable treatment option. Of course, people with asthma want something that works, but also a treatment that is safe. With the growing interest in alternative medicine, it was important to us to provide information on asthma control through chiropractic care.
Correct diagnosis and symptoms
Before treatment can begin, a person suspected of having asthma must have a clear diagnosis. Finally, there are other health problems that cause similar symptoms. So, a visit to the doctor would ensure that the right disease is being treated but also help determine the best treatment plan. In addition to the patient and family history, a doctor performed several tests and reviewed the clinical presentation to determine whether asthma was indeed the problem.
In terms of symptoms, there are actually a number of things that a person with asthma would experience. The most obvious is difficulty breathing, which results from a person's airways becoming narrowed and inflamed. However, chronic coughing, wheezing, and a tight feeling in the chest are also expected. Even if an asthma attack is minor, the experience can be frightening, especially for children, but during a full-blown asthma attack the situation becomes worse.
Triggers for asthma attacks
Most people with asthma also suffer from allergies, which is one of the main triggers for an attack. Some of the other things known to trigger an asthma attack include the following:
- Kaltes Wetter
- Zigaretten-, Pfeifen- und Zigarrenrauch
- Hautschuppen, besonders von Katzen
- Übung
- Lebensmittelkonservierungsmittel
- Bestimmte Lebensmittel wie frisches Obst und Gemüse, Fisch, Garnelen und andere Schalentiere, Kuhmilch, Erdnüsse, Eier, Weizen und Soja
Of course, these and other triggers should be avoided at all costs, but regardless, someone with asthma would need to create a maintenance plan to prevent attacks. Some people take medication and use inhalers to ward off attacks, while others turn to the benefits of chiropractic care. Additionally, some asthmatics get the most relief with a combination of both.
Chiropractic care to combat asthma
Over the past year, several studies have been conducted to determine the effects of chiropractic care on asthma. The results show that children and adults who regularly perform spinal adjustments achieve significant improvement. The improvements were seen as fewer number and frequency of asthma attacks, but also less severity.
By using spinal adjustments, misaligned vertebrae (subluxations) are brought back into the correct position, allowing signals traveling over nerves to reach different parts of the body. Because of this, the entire body functions better, but this also allows for natural healing. Note that in addition to correcting the vertebral subluxation complex, which reduces the effects of an attack, in many cases it also prevents attacks from occurring.
Chiropractic care does not cause pain, is 100% natural, does not cause any serious side effects and is effective and safe. These are all benefits for adults living with asthma, but even more beneficial for children. When compared to conventional medicine and standard treatments, it is easy to see that chiropractic care for asthma is a better solution for many people of all ages.
