Autism finds a subtle form of solution in music therapy. Autistic individuals, and especially children, may experience developed skills in their communication process and behavioral understanding due to the effects of music therapy. The role of music therapy appears to be of effective benefit to children who have difficulty interacting with others in a normal way, remaining detached from society, or unresponsive to external stimuli. Many of the children cannot speak properly and instead repeat the words they hear or produce an abnormal humming sound.

Music is a universal material with no particular vernacular and has the power to influence autistic children. Appropriate music lessons are created to create a response from the individual autistic child as an external stimulus. Various studies have been conducted on the role of music in autism and it has been found to be effective in treating such children who showed developed skills after experiencing the external motivation of music.

Music is not intimidating for autistic children. This is the main reason it becomes acceptable for autistic children. From the stage at which autistic children stop socializing, only music can bring about a change in behavior and eliminate social withdrawal. Music was able to gain the faith of autistic children compared to other approaches. The first interaction takes place with a musical instrument that is free from any human approach. While listening to the musical score of the same instrument, the autistic child finds interest in it and tries to know the workings of the instrument. The first point of success occurs when the autistic child accepts the instrument and progresses, so to speak, towards a better social atmosphere. This is the greatness of music in autism, opening the door to social connection for an autistic child who otherwise despises social connection. This is the merit of music in autism.
