On June 11, 2007, the first of 4,800 autism cases came before the Special Masters of the US Federal Claims Court, known as the “Vaccine Court.” Michelle Cedillo's case was chosen as a "test case" to determine whether there is a likely link between the MMR vaccine, thimerosal and autism. Here is a summary of the case: Michelle developed normally during the first year of her life. Seven days after her MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine at 15 months old, she abruptly developed a high fever that subsided and then recurred.

The ultimate cure for autism?

On June 11, 2007, the first of 4,800 autism cases came before the Special Masters of the US Federal Claims Court, known as the “Vaccine Court.” Michelle Cedillo's case was chosen as a "test case" to determine whether there is a likely link between the MMR vaccine, thimerosal and autism.

Here is a summary of the case: Michelle developed normally during the first year of her life. Seven days after her MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine at 15 months old, she abruptly developed a high fever that subsided and then recurred. Shortly thereafter, she lost her ability to speak, became uninterested in her surroundings, developed an intense sensitivity to noise, and was eventually diagnosed with severe autism. Additionally, two weeks after receiving the shot, she developed severe diarrhea that continues to this day. Prior to receiving MMR, she received vaccines containing more than 100 µg of mercury from thimerosal. The strongest fact supporting the connection between her autism and the MMR is a biopsy of her intestinal lining documenting the vaccine strain measles virus when she had no other exposure to measles.

The fight for vaccines

History repeats itself. Since the passage of the first compulsory vaccination law in Britain in 1865, government vaccine mandates have been set against the intuitive feeling of parents. Smallpox vaccination at the time was invasive, unsanitary, and often both disfiguring and fatal. Public vaccines cut at least four lines in a dot pattern on an adult's arm, and then "vaccine," lymph extracted from cows, was smeared into the wound. Eight days after the procedure, the blisters were harvested and the fluid was inserted directly into her child's arm. Many children died from secondary infections and burns. A very active grassroots parent movement began to oppose this abhorrent procedure. The “anti-vaccine” label has continued to this day. (2)

Parents in 2007 are outraged for various reasons. If parents agree to all recommended vaccines, girls as young as 10 will have 157 vaccine antigens injected into their bodies. Boys receive slightly less at 145 because they are not (yet) candidates for Gardisil, the new cervical cancer vaccine. In addition, measurable amounts of chemicals such as MSG, polysorbate 20 and 80, aluminum, industrial grade detergent, 2-phenoxyethanol, formaldehyde and others are in use. Some parents wonder whether their children are just a “profit center” for the pharmaceutical industry.

A medical sacred cow is, by definition, “a procedure or person who is unreasonably immune to criticism.” We must stop being afraid to openly discuss issues with that sacred cow, a vaccine. We need to stop tisk-tisking when someone calls vaccines what they are: dirt in a needle. A well-researched article by Benjamin McReardon reveals what really goes through those needles. (3) We must stop disbelieving serious documentation about the problems caused by vaccines.

For more than 200 years we have been told that vaccines are necessary for the good of society. Using nonviolent methods to persuade a person to abandon their core beliefs and adopt the indoctrinator's beliefs is called brainwashing. We need to encourage adults to read the relevant information and then think for themselves. Those who have repeatedly told the pro-vaccine story are those who stand to benefit most economically from vaccines: doctors and pharmaceutical companies. We all need to realize that public health is more than just high vaccination rates and low infection rates.

Many doctors, allied health practitioners and psychologists are working overtime to help autistic children recover. But here's a better idea: Why not prevent them from getting sick and injured in the first place?

Embrace the idea that handwashing, eating well, getting plenty of sleep, clean water, and simple detoxification procedures keep us healthy. Do a little homework; Research the pros and cons of the vaccine compared to the risks of the disease. Most adults over 40 have had measles and chickenpox; Some had pertussis. Was it really that bad? Parents with children suffering from autism and ASD would have been happy to stay home with an unpleasant, feverish child for a week or two rather than spend years trying to help them recover from autism. Would we rather have occasional short-lived viral infections like mumps and flu or an autism epidemic?

So what will be the ultimate cure for autism? Stop causing it. Eat well, get plenty of sleep and educate yourself before vaccinating.
