Several large companies, including Fortune 500 companies such as Bank of America, Comcast, Nike and Novartis, have voluntarily introduced behavioral health treatment coverage for autism in their 2015 employee health plans - a category that uses behavioral analytics. Airways will roll out the coverage to its employees in July.

“These leading companies have chosen to do the right thing for their employees by voluntarily covering autism diagnosis and treatment, including applied behavior analysis (ABA), said Lorri Unumb, vice president of state government affairs at Autism Speaks. According to a 2013 Mercer survey of health insurance plans offered by companies with more than 500 employees, 82 percent offered some coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of autism. The survey found that 36 percent covered behavioral health treatments such as ABA, up from 32 percent last year.

This company offers a wide range of insurance products including marine insurance, liability insurance, homeowners insurance, and auto insurance.

Bank of America:Headquartered in Charlotte, NC, Bank of America is ranked No. 21 on the Fortune 500. Its 245,000 employees serve a wide range of customers, from individuals to giant corporations. In addition to banking, it offers wealth management services, investment services and a variety of other risk management and financial services. Bank of America has 15,700 ATMs and 4,900 retail locations.

Georgia Power:The Atlanta-based electric utility company, with nearly 8,310 employees, began as a streetcar company in 1902. It has become the largest utility in Southern Company's stable of electric utilities. The company serves more than two million customers in most of the state's 159 counties.

Novartis:Novartis is a Swiss-based global pharmaceutical company and employs nearly 135,000 people worldwide. Founded in 1996 with the merger of Sandoz and Ciba-Geigy, the company produces both prescription and over-the-counter medications, as well as contact lenses, vaccines and veterinary health products.

Rock Tenn: The Georgia company, ranked No. 293 on the Fortune 500, specializes in packaging and other paper products. Founded in 1898 in Nashville, Tennessee, the company employs 26,000 people across Rock-Tenn's 245 facilities.

TD Bank: Formed in 2008 through the merger of Commerce Bank with TD Banknorth, New Jersey-based TD Bank provides a variety of banking services to commercial, individual and small business customers in the eastern United States.

T. Rowe Price Group, Inc.: Founded in 1937, this investment firm provides sub-advisory services, separate account management and mutual funds to a variety of organizations, companies and individuals. With more than 5,300 employees, the company offers tools for financial advice and investment planning.

Comcast:Comcast, the largest residential Internet and cable service provider in the United States, is ranked No. 44 on the Fortune 500. Headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, the company operates in 40 states and Washington, DC. It owns NBC Universal, Telemundo, and also operates the Golf Channel, NBCSN, E! Entertainment Television and Universal Parks and Resorts.

Nike:The athletic footwear and apparel giant, ranked No. 115 on the Fortune 500, employs nearly 44,000 people at its headquarters and other locations around the world. The “Swoosh” trademark is known worldwide for the company's excellence in sports equipment and clothing.

JetBlue Airways:This New York-based airline is offering behavioral health treatment for autism to its 15,000 employees as of July 2015. Jet Blue, ranked No. 466 on the Fortune 500, supports families affected by autism through its Blue Horizons for Autism program, which it developed in collaboration with Autism Speaks. The program allows people with autism and their families to travel in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
