These can all be signs that you may be having problems. Many people don't seek appropriate medical care for depression because they're embarrassed to talk about their feelings, but you really shouldn't be. It's more common than you think. Now that said, many doctors are quick to promote medications to treat depression. And while medications can certainly help in many cases, you shouldn't be too willing to dive into them. The fact is that natural treatments often work just as well and do not come with the unwanted side effects of medications.
Which Natural Treatments Should You Consider? Here are three suggestions...
1. Fish oil.Fish oil is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, and these fatty acids can help you achieve them. Omega-3 fatty acids can help improve your mood and overall outlook, helping you feel better sooner.
While you can only eat salmon, flaxseeds, and walnuts to get your omega-3 fatty acids, most people simply don't eat enough of these foods on a daily basis to reap the benefits.
2. Exercise.Next, consider some exercise. Taking a brisk walk, a workout at the gym, or playing your favorite team sport are great ways to combat feelings of low spirits. Exercise causes the release of positive feel-good endorphins that improve mood.
Remember that every activity counts here. Don't think that it has to be incredibly intense or take longer to make a difference.
3. Social interaction.Last but not least, consider social interaction. While hanging out with friends is the last thing on your mind right now, make an effort.
Those people who have strong connections with others enjoy some protection from feelings of depression and are able to recover more quickly even after a hard day. So call a friend or see a family member you haven't seen in a while. It may be exactly what you need.
