Go through it with Tao wisdom and get out of depression
We all live in a world of depression. This means that many of us are vulnerable and prone to it, and we may all have experienced depressive episodes from time to time throughout our lives. In fact, depression has become an epidemic in the current world we live in, and millions of people are diagnosed with this mental disorder every year. This mental battle is as old as age, and it respects no person. To illustrate, Sir Winston Churchill, the British Prime Minister during World War II, suffered from bipolar depression; Ernest Hemingway, the Nobel Prize-winning author, suffered from depression which led to his ultimate suicide.
Not in the first placestigmatizeDepression. The explanation is simple: once we stigmatize this mental disorder, we tend not only to deny it but also to avoid it; We can perpetuate it consciously and unconsciously. Once a person is diagnosed with depression, it always comes back to haunt that person. Why? It's because depression is a mental battle to escape the inevitable. That is, when we stigmatize it, we want to avoid it at all costs and then try to escape it with many distractions in life, such as an anti-depression meditation, a dose of alcohol or drugs, going on a shopping trip or a vacation, all of these distractions don't work because they don't solve the real problem: taking a medication to lighten a depressed mood only leads to taking more medication; taking alcohol or drugs can lead to addiction problems; A shopping spree can lead to debt and financial problems, which can later lead to further depression; Vacation planning and travel can lead to unnecessary stress, triggering another depressive episode.
Depression is nothing more than a mental inability to face or cope with the many life problems that arise from the realities of life. To free uspermanentof depression, we must not avoid it with medication or distractions; instead we must gain deep human wisdom. Why? It's because we need the wisdom to ask ourselves lots of self-intuitive questions to find out who we are and what we really want from life. More importantly, we need wisdom to understandHowthe human mind works: that is, how it perceives and interprets everyday experiences and transforms them into the so-called “realities” of life, which ultimately influence our life choices and our actions and reactions in everyday life. Deep human wisdom can enable us to recognize the truths about ourselves and everything that happens to us and around us. In other words, we can see things as they are, rather than as we wish they were. Knowing the truths - separating them from the half-truths or even myths - holds the key to the art of living well, as if everything were a miracle that can free us from depression.
Why do we need Tao wisdom, or what is Tao wisdom? Tao wisdom is the ancient human wisdom from China based on the bookTao Te Ching, written by the sage Lao Tzu more than 2,600 years ago. This immortal ancient classic consists of 81 short poetry chapters (only 5,000 Chinese characters in total) about a way of life and living in balance and harmony.
The first essence of Tao wisdom is having an empty mindsetreverseThink. In other words, to achieveTrueHuman wisdom, we must first and foremost free our minds from preconditioned thinking, such as the need to use medication or distractions, to avoid or overcome depression. Instead, we should go through depression by experiencing every aspect to fully understand itHowandWhywe could have depression in the first place. To do just that, we must live in the present moment. Living in the past or projecting our expectations into the future is inevitably the underlying cause of all depressive episodes. Furthermore, according to Lao Tzu, everything in this world is impermanent, and thus everything follows a natural cycle, just as life is inevitably followed by death, what goes up must come down again. Understanding and applying this simple yet profound wisdom to daily life can make us realize the futility of our "overdoing" doing more than what is necessary to achieve our life goals, thus causing excessive stress in our lives, leading to distress and disappointment, which are the main elements of depression.
Tao is neither a religion nor a philosophy. It is just a way of thinking, a way of life with simple but deep human wisdom. “Going through” depression with Tao wisdom can enlighten us so we can thinkdifferentabout our depression. Tao wisdom teaches usincludeeverything in life, both the good and the bad, as well as the pleasant and the unpleasant, and then learn something from everything...theis true enlightenment of the human spirit.
