The enlarged veins in the lower part of the rectum and anus are known as “hemorrhoids/piles” that affect millions of people around the world. No other living being except humans suffers from this painful and truly embarrassing condition. Although most people consider it abnormal, everyone has it. Only when the hemorrhoid cushions enlarge can hemorrhoids cause a problem or condition.
Hemorrhoids can be of two types based on their location in the rectal area. Internal hemorrhoids occur in the rectum, while the external hemorrhoids I write about usually occur at the opening of the anus.
Usually this disease is more susceptible to people over 50 years old. Although it can be embarrassing to talk about, anyone can get hemorrhoids, even healthy young people in good shape. The people who have it have to deal with itching, discomfort and bleeding, presence of a lump near the anus, itching or irritation in the anal area, leakage of feces, painless bleeding during bowel movements, pain or discomfort, swelling around the anus and some more humiliating signs and symptoms. External hemorrhoids are located under the skin around the anus. Irritation is the standard symptom of external hemorrhoids, which can cause itching or even bleeding. Sometimes blood can collect during bowel movements and form a clot, which also causes severe pain, swelling and inflammation. They are also difficult hygienically and there are cases where clots can also develop due to straining during bowel movements, which happens after a period of constipation and diarrhea. If the vein ruptures and/or a blood clot develops, the external hemorrhoid is called a thrombosed external hemorrhoid. Don't panic, it's just that you've taken your hemorrhoids to the next level.
The causes of external hemorrhoids are mainly constipation and straining during bowel movements. Pregnancy can also be another cause. The most common cause is sitting for long periods of time during a bowel movement. Sitting for long periods of time is also not good for external hemorrhoids at all as it can make it worse. Other causes may include diarrhea, lifting heavy objects, poor posture, prolonged sitting, low fiber diet, anal intercourse and being overweight. These conditions lead to increased pressure in the hemorrhoidal veins, causing them to swell.
The best way to get rid of hemorrhoids is to change your lifestyle. But most of the time we don't know this until we already have hemorrhoids. If the condition is caused by sitting in the office for too long, you should use a hemorrhoid pillow that is suitable for reducing pressure and can work well. Change your diet, one of the most important things is a good high fiber diet, drink lots of water every day. You can find fiber in large quantities in fruits and vegetables. Try drinking natural fiber laxatives every day to soften your stool so that it doesn't require a lot of pressure when passing stool.
Soaking in a shallow bath of warm water helps reduce swelling and relieve pain. Applying an ice pack to the affected area will also attempt to relieve the pain to some extent. Creams and lotions that contain hydrocortisone as the main ingredient can also be used very well to relieve immediate swelling and pain associated with external hemorrhoids. Light exercise can also be made a part of your daily routine. Use this, let the painful battle you fight with hemorrhoids every morning come to an end.
