IBS and acid reflux
IBS and acid reflux are related. About three months ago I started having this problem. I had gas with incredible pain, not to mention swinging from constipation to diarrhea. The gas problem was extremely embarrassing. The pain was so bad that I had to quickly excuse myself and find an isolated area. That's not always easy in the office. And it's certainly not easy to talk about. Fortunately, there are some natural remedies for this disease that I will share with you, and I will also share some of the causes of IBS and acid reflux.
What is IBS?
What is IBS? The medical community doesn't know exactly what causes irritable bowel syndrome. There are a variety of symptoms that accompany and are associated with IBS. A person suffering from irritable bowel syndrome may have any or all of the following symptoms.
• Gas (bloating), sometimes accompanied by flatulence
• Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Abdominal cramps
• Stomach growling
• Severe heartburn
• Digestive disorders
These are all symptoms of IBS. Not surprisingly, all of these symptoms occur in both IBS and acid reflux.
Diet is a likely cause of these symptoms. Foods that your body doesn't digest well can make the problem worse. Stress has also been linked to IBS. Continuously taking medications like ibuprofen and antibiotics can make IBS worse. Diet and stress are the same in both IBS and acid reflux.
Friday night
Sometimes life gets the best of you. It shouldn't, but you and I know it does. There are bills to pay. The children need new shoes. Winter is coming and heating costs are rising. The economy just won't let up. Millions of people are unemployed. What is this world coming to?
My dad always said, “You know, son, there’s always Friday night.” My father grew up during the Depression. So I know he must have known something about absorbing his spirits. I'm still not entirely sure what my father told me. Still, I knew then that he knew something I didn't. I know you will find these tips helpful, useful and maybe even amusing!
Laugh
The best cure for most illnesses, including physical ones, is laughter. The medical community has conducted studies showing that laughter speeds recovery in patients. Yes, I know, when your spirit is depressed, how will you laugh? Well, it's simple. Force yourself to go to the library or your local bookstore. Find a joke book. Yes, a joke book.
Soon, and I can almost guarantee it, you will start smiling and then maybe laughing. Another good way to make yourself laugh is to rent a good comedy. You know one of those old slapstick comedies like Abbot and Costello or Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin. Have you never heard of them? Then you are in for a treat!
The UCLA Center for Neurovisceral Sciences and Women's Health conducted studies in which researchers speculated that life stress plays an important role in causing heartburn and other gastrointestinal symptoms, which include IBS. Reduce your stress levels; laugh a little.
Physical activity
Here's another one. Make an effort to do something outside. Go for a stroll; mowing grass; just do something. It doesn't matter what. As long as it's something physical; It doesn't have to be hard work, just physical.
Why? By getting the body to focus on a task, we naturally focus on something other than what is making us feel blue. I noticed that the house was cleaner and the yard was tidier when my wife and I disagreed. At the end of the day everything was mostly fine.
Pick up your spirits
Finally, there are spirits, the material liquid kind, the kind you pour out of a bottle. This is certainly unconventional advice and not for everyone. It is the only form of medication I will take when my mood is low. Do you know why they are called ghosts?
Think about it this way. You take a living thing, a grape, another fruit, or maybe some barley, and let it die. You add a little yeast. The spirit of the fruit or barley arises. And voila, you have ghosts. Most of the time they lift your mood or at least you don't care. Just don't overdo it and you definitely won't want to drive, sitting by the fire with a nice glass or two didn't hurt anyone.
What matters, of course, is a state of mind. Laughter will change your perspective as soon as you breathe out this unique sound. A quick trip to the bookstore, library, or video rental store can change your mindset. Even doctors recommend it. Isn't it worth making an investment?
Engaging in physical activities calms our minds and consequently elevates our mood. Completing a simple task gives our bodies and brains a boost. And of course there is the Elixir of the Gods. As my dad would say, “A little wine or a few beers never hurts anyone.” I wonder if he meant, “…there’s always Friday night.”
If you have IBS, you probably suffer from heartburn or acid reflux. IBS and acid reflux go hand in hand. You can overcome most gastrointestinal disorders naturally and holistically. Of course, you should always consult your doctor before trying any particular procedure or medication.
IBS and acid reflux are curable. There is hope.
