Did you know that one of the causes of most indigestion is low stomach acid?

Can't break the acid reflux or heartburn cycle?

Did you know that you shouldn't take antacids for longer than 8 weeks?

Many people are probably unaware that their stomach doesn't produce enough stomach acid, especially if they pop antacids like candy. Stomach acid, known as hydrochloric acid (HCl), is necessary for many body functions, especially to aid in the digestion of food.

Many people take antacids to relieve heartburn or choking. What is unknown, however, is that lowering stomach acid in most cases causes more problems in the long run. What are you wondering? The biggest problem is that your body is unable to produce enough stomach acid to keep your gastrointestinal tract healthy and support your immune system.

What does HCl do?

• Breaks down food for digestion, including proteins

• Kills toxic bacteria in food

• Kills ingested pathogens

• Balances the pH (acid/alkaline) in the stomach

• Supports immune health in the small intestine

More details about the acid:

Protein Eater – HCl activates an enzyme called pepsin so it can digest proteins. Protein is critical to the maintenance and building blocks of every cell, including collagen, hormones, neurotransmitters, enzymes, antibodies, hair, skin nails and muscles.

Do you love sushi? – HCl also helps kill microorganisms present in the foods we eat, especially if you want to eat raw foods like sushi. It also prevents food from sitting in the stomach and fermenting.

Pathogen Killer – HCl is important to prevent food poisoning, yeast, bacterial, viral, bacterial, parasitic and protozoan infections caused by parasitic diseases e.g. B. in malaria, African sleeping sickness, etc.

Team Player – HCl supports proper mineral absorption such as iron, magnesium and zinc – all minerals that, along with calcium, help form bones in your body. Chemical and electrical processes take place every moment. These processes can ONLY function properly if the balanced minerals are properly absorbed.

Don't take your HCl for granted!

What does HCl or hydrochloric acid do for you?Everyone needs adequate stomach acid levels to break down food and absorb nutrients such as minerals, vitamins and folic acid. If you don't have enough stomach acid, you can't fight off infections or invasive bacteria. HCl is crucial in preventing bacteria from migrating from the small intestine and colonizing in the stomach. Think about the last time you were sick – did it take a long time to get over it?

People diagnosed with inflammatory bowel diseases such as celiac disease, GERD, or IBS have problems with stomach acid. If you have made changes to your diet and lifestyle and are not seeing results, contact your doctor.

Symptoms

If you experience acid reflux, heartburn, belching, gas, or nausea after eating, it's likely you have low stomach acid.

Why is this happening?

There is a constant pressure in the abdomen known as intra-abdominal pressure (IAP). A normal stomach has an IAP between 0 and 55 mm Hg. When there is not enough stomach acid, the IAP rises and pushes against the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). Because the lining of the esophagus lacks the protective layer of the stomach, any stomach acid that is pushed into the LES touches the lining of the esophagus and creates a painful burning sensation.

Some signs of low stomach acid are –

• “Sour stomach” is only relieved by eating

• Acid digestion

• Bad breath and body odor

• Indigestion 30 minutes to an hour after eating up to 4 hours

• Visible undigested food in stool

• Upset stomach caused by acidic or spicy foods

• White spots on your fingernails or nails breaking

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

• Frequent use of antacids

What's happening in your stomach?

If your stomach doesn't contain enough acid, food is likely to sit and ferment instead of breaking down. This fermentation produces gas. If you burp and taste your meal hours after eating, it may be an indication that the food is still sitting in your stomach and has not yet passed into your small intestine. This is not a good sign. But you can help yourself! How? Try mindful eating to increase your HCl levels.

How do you increase your HCl?

Simple dietary changes can usually help improve acidity.

Recommended foods:

• Wild caught salmon, tuna, avocados and sprouted nuts,

• Foods high in omega-3 oils and fiber

• At least 64 ounces of filtered water per day

• Yogurt with active cultures

Harmful foods:

• Alcoholic drinks

• Trans fat

• Refined sugar and artificial sweeteners (Sugar promotes bacterial growth.)

• Nightshade vegetables, tomatoes, eggplant and potatoes

• Simple (refined) carbohydrates and wheat

• Peanuts, sodium nitrite foods, MSG,

• Avoid foods that cause heartburn here
