Chronic pain - There is a light at the end of the tunnel
Let's talk about PAIN and how it is perceived by an individual and a group in our society. Most of us live with a very deep misunderstanding about pain. It’s called the disease-centered mentality. Chronic pain - There is a light at the end of the tunnel
Let's talk about PAIN and how it is perceived by an individual and a group in our society. Most of us live with a very deep misunderstanding about pain. It’s called the disease-centered mentality. When you meet someone in severe pain trying to move their neck or leg in any direction, the first thought that comes to their mind is that they have an injury. No doubt, everyone tells them that, from the doctor to their friends. But… it is accepted. And it's almost always wrong. But why? Pain is very real; It has been there for months or even years and they can pinpoint the area. So people assume it's an injury or disease in that muscle, joint or organ. Conventional treatment for this type of chronic pain includes surgery, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, cortisone injections, and opioids, which together often provide no long-term benefit or even expose patients to other health risks. Chemicals have no side effects in the human body; They only have effects. America's number four killer is adverse drug reactions to properly prescribed medications, with more than 100,000 estimated deaths per year. The Physicians' Desk Reference contains 32,000 pages of medication side effects. It's no coincidence that associating pain with injury is good business for global pharmaceutical companies and the medical community. In the US alone, the pain industry is over $1 trillion. Opiate addiction rates in this country are at historically high levels. Scary? Think about supply and demand. In reality, this is good news. That means we can change it. Here's how.
In general, every living organism needs two basic things to function indefinitely: nutrients and waste elimination. One of them reduces aging and degeneration. Staying physically active and taking care of your body is something each of us has heard about at least once in our lives. What if you viewed every day of your life as an investment in your health account? Under this paradigm, people would become healthier with age, not sicker, as assumed by the disease control market. It is an illusion propagated by allopathic medicine that health can only be achieved and maintained through chemical control. On the contrary, holistic medicine teaches that the body has the natural ability to heal itself and that its intelligence is stronger than man-made chemicals.
Just a few years ago I said I wanted to change this broken SYSTEM. Now I know the biggest problem is not the system, but the MINDSET of a person. Many people would prefer not to participate in the healing process, which requires some effort on their part. They want an immediate cure that eliminates the annoying symptoms - joint and muscle pain, fatigue, etc. This allows them to continue on their path of self-ignorance and self-abuse. Holistic medicine promotes a healthy state that is not conducive to disease by allowing the body to express its natural potential. This is another route that CHOICE can take. The holistic approach to life is something you do every day, whether you are healthy or sick. It's a lifestyle, a better quality of life. I know that the message I am trying to convey will, to some extent, fall on deaf ears. I agree with that. The number of people spending thousands of dollars annually on alternative healing methods that are not included in their health plans is increasing. This is a fundamental shift. And that's why I do what I do. I love saving my clients from expensive procedures, dangerous drugs, thousands in co-pays and deductibles. As your view of pain changes, your approach to treatment changes and determines treatment.
According to Travell & Simons, 90% of pain arises from microscopic areas of muscle imbalance called trigger points, not from disease or injury. If it were an injury, I would not be able to help my client regain normal, pain-free range of motion in one treatment session. This is excellent news because it means we can give the body significant, even complete success in working its way out of chronic pain and mobility limitations and treating non-injury types of pain without resorting to medication, surgery, or a reduction in activity. While muscles cause pain and require treatment, we use a functional anatomy and coordinated movement approach to achieve faster and more comprehensive results by focusing on normalizing the range and quality of joint movement and eliminating the cause of your pain rather than continuing to worry about the symptoms. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. A mental paradigm shift opens up the world of a hundred ways to add life to your years and years to your life. As I said, it's a matter of choice.
