High blood pressure can push you out of your comfort zone
I grew up in the South. That said, I grew up eating bacon and using the leftover fat in other dishes. We didn't pay attention to how much fat was in our ground beef. Most of the time it came from a side of beef that we kept in our freezer. That was my comfort zone, and while I scaled back some of that, I cooked for my family that way.
When I realized I was seriously overweight, that changed. One of my children sat me down and told me that she was afraid I would die if I didn't change the way I cooked (and ate). Let me tell you, this takes you out of your comfort zone without changing things.
Work: I did the same job back then. It means sitting at the computer for hours. When I finished, the last thing I wanted to do was cook a healthy meal from scratch. I learned something It's just as fun to cook with healthy ingredients as their counterparts. It tastes better too.
At home: This is a difficult area since both my spouse and I work from home. It's much harder to stop thinking about the job and get on with the things that need to be done. We had to find a way to do that.
Lifestyle change: That's what it's about. My blood pressure when I received the mother/daughter interview was 178/123. To end it, I had to change everything, not just what we ate. I had to train. It wasn't about a diet. Diets end. I can't do that or I could very well die. You could too.
I'm using myself as an example, but I imagine that most of you reading this article have some issues that need to be changed. It may take time to get out of your comfort zone. In fact, it probably should. Don't wait for someone to tell you that your actions could get you killed. Start now before it's too late.
