Overcome Binge Eating – Stop trying to lose weight, trust yourself and eat naturally
In my experience, we turn to diets because we don't trust ourselves to make the right choices about food and our bodies. Overcome Binge Eating – Stop trying to lose weight, trust yourself and eat naturally
In my experience, we turn to diets because we don't trust ourselves to make the right choices about food and our bodies. Especially when we've gained weight, we feel like we've failed and need to restrict ourselves in order to lose weight and get back on track.
That's why we start with a diet, weight loss or exercise program that allows us to follow a specific structure to lose the weight. Unfortunately, this does not allow us to trust ourselves and make the right decisions for ourselves. Everyone is different. No diet, weight loss or exercise program suits all of us. They are generally based on deprivation and restriction, meaning that over time things become too difficult and we fall off the program and eventually revert to our old eating habits. Deprivation causes us to want that food more, so we end up bingeing on it. This leads us on a negative roller coaster of diets and food cravings that is very difficult to stop.
I think it is extremely important that we trust ourselves to make the right decisions for ourselves. Because only we know when we are hungry, what we like to eat and when we have had enough. This is why “natural eating” is so fantastic. It's not a program, but the way our body should eat. It's not structured. You eat spontaneously depending on when your body tells you it is hungry. Once you learn to eat naturally, you'll tune into your body's signals so you can give it what it needs, when it needs it. Over time, you will change your mindset and eat according to your body's needs rather than a structured program.
Eating is a fundamental bodily function and should not be controlled by external influences. If you are hungry, you should eat. If you are satisfied, you should stop. Eating is something we have to do several times a day and should enjoy. Once you learn to eat naturally, eating simply becomes part of your day, just like showering, brushing your teeth, or sleeping. It won't be a negative struggle that makes you feel guilty or disappointed, and it won't be controlled by someone else.
Natural eating allows us to eat in a positive and empowering way because we are the only ones who know what is right for us. Trust yourself; believe that you can eat naturally. You will be able to overcome binge eating because food will no longer have a negative impact on you.
