Fighting GERD or acid reflux? Help is here!
If you have it, you know it. If you don't, you'll wonder what all the fuss is about. Contrary to what many people think, GERD is not a disease and is not caused by a “bad” sphincter or “too much” stomach acid. This is a sign that your digestive system is stressed by a number of factors, including: foods full of sugar and chemicals, foods that you are sensitive or allergic to, and certain "trigger" foods that are said to relax the sphincter at inopportune times. It can be made worse by hiatal hernia or anything that puts pressure on the abdomen. …

The pharmaceutical companies will be happy to sell you drugs for this for the rest of your life. What you should know is that these medications neutralize stomach acid and/or block your stomach's ability to produce acid at all. This is not good for two reasons:
1) You need stomach acid to break down food so you can digest your food!
2) Additionally, stomach acid is an upper GI disinfectant – it kills the invaders (pathogens) that enter your system and can cause you a lot of harm. Getting rid of stomach acid is not natural.
If you're like most people, you can correct GERD with just a little effort to help yourself.
The short term solution:Please note that anything that increases abdominal pressure can overwhelm your esophageal sphincter and cause an attack of reflux. These include being overweight, wearing clothes with tight waistbands, lying down, coughing, and having constipation. Please make an effort to know and resolve these factors.
However, here are some of the best natural remedies (short-term fixes) available today. You can find them at local health food stores or online.
Sweetish bitters(Gaia), which you can use after an occasional heavy or oversized meal to prevent things from bubbling up again. They work quickly – almost instantly.
Gamma Oryzano– It stimulates the stomach to push food out (in the right direction) and is also a strong protector of the stomach lining. There are two great natural products on the market today that contain Gamma Oryzanol:
Heartburn Essentials– contains 250 mg of gamma-oryzanol as well as many other great things that calm and support normal GI function.
Acid lightness– also contains natural digestive enzymes and soothing herbs. The recommended dosage is two heartburn capsules and repeat the dose in 15 minutes as needed.
This should work for almost everyone. However, if you need more in your arsenal, you can try Enzymatic Therapy's Heartburn Free, available at most health food stores. It contains D-limonene, which normalizes the neural control of the stomach and sphincter for rapid GERD correction.
The long-term solution is straightforward:change your lifestyle and eating habits ~ period. Many people think that foods like chocolate, hot spices, peppermint, etc. cause acid reflux. Not like that. It means there is an underlying problem that has made your gut over-reactive.
This simple approach has worked for many years, but no one has told you about it until now! This means cutting out the sugar, eating healthy fats with good protein, and eating lots of fiber. You could be symptom free within a week!
Chew your food slowly because the better it is broken down, the faster it moves through your stomach and ultimately the better your digestion.
Start today~ You can be symptom-free very soon!
