The Unhealthiest and Healthiest Countries in the World: A Fascinating Analysis.
A conscious lifestyle is becoming increasingly popular as people around the world embrace healthy habits. However, a recent analysis has shown that lifestyles depend heavily on the region in which one lives. To determine which countries have the unhealthiest and healthiest lifestyle habits, experts examined 33 countries in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The criteria included official data on the amount of alcohol consumed per person per year, smoking rates, obesity, stress levels, physical activity, sexually transmitted diseases and healthy life expectancy.
The USA is at the top of the unhealthiest countries, followed by Hungary, Mexico, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Germany ranks eleventh with a high alcohol consumption of 12.2 liters per capita per year and a smoker rate of almost a quarter of the population. Nevertheless, life expectancy in Germany is 70.9 years, making it one of the highest in the world.
Japan tops the list of healthiest countries, characterized by a low obesity rate of just four percent and a low number of sexually transmitted diseases per 100,000 people. Other healthy countries include Denmark, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands, South Korea, Iceland and Spain.
Overall, European countries perform well in the health rankings, with eight European nations featured in the top 10. Scandinavian countries such as Denmark and Norway are characterized by high levels of happiness and physical activity. Finland, the happiest country in the world, takes fourth place in the ranking.
