In Germany, two universities have opened new simulation training facilities to offer aspiring midwives practical training. The SimLab Midwifery Science was opened in Halle at the Martin Luther University, while the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences launched a 500 square meter skills and simulation laboratory.
The SimLab in Halle covers 266 square meters and offers realistic training conditions with four simulation rooms that are set up for various scenarios such as examinations, consultations and births. Prospective midwives can practice there with realistic-looking newborn dolls. Osnabrück University celebrated the opening of its skills and simulation laboratory, which was designed for the dual degree program in midwifery.
