Volunteer Liturgy Leaders Wanted: Help those undergoing rehabilitation!

Support for rehabilitation pastoral care is urgently needed in Bad Waldsee. The Waldseer Rehaseelsorge, under the leadership of pastoral officer Egon Wieland, has been organizing three word services every Saturday evening for many years in two municipal rehabilitation clinics and in the clinic in the Hofgarten. The word services offer patients an opportunity for inner contemplation during their rehabilitation and are described as blessed, as they complement the medical-psychological help in the rehabilitation clinics.

The group of Liturgy of the Word leaders currently consists of eight members, some of whom will be leaving due to age. Egon Wieland is therefore looking for new colleagues to continue the valuable pastoral work. Joachim Dangel (55) and Ralf Weber (51) have recently joined the group, both of whom have had positive experiences with the church services. Dangel works in the Zieglerschen senior center in Bad Waldsee, while Weber is a pastor at the St. Elisabeth Foundation.

Tasks and training

In addition to the liturgical elements, the services also include discussions, lectures, spiritual church tours, spiritual evening concerts and meditations. Binding elements are the texts of the reading and gospel as well as the liturgical words when receiving communion. Wieland emphasizes the importance of rehabilitation pastoral care for those undergoing rehabilitation in order to take a fresh look at their lives. The team urgently needs additional staff in order to be able to continue to hold three services every Saturday.

Anyone who enjoys meeting people and would like to bring their own talents to the church services is warmly invited to contact Egon Wieland. A short training course is offered to prepare you for volunteer work. You can contact us by phone at 07524/404112 or by email.

The need for pastoral support is not only evident in Bad Waldsee, but also in other facilities. This is illustrated by the pastoral care offered at the Charité, where both the Evangelical and Catholic Churches offer pastoral discussions with patients. Here, a space is created for the mental state of the sick, whereby various topics such as experiences with illness and healing, crisis management and end-of-life care are discussed. Pastors support patients, relatives and staff and offer support regardless of ideology or religious affiliation, as explained on the Charité website.

For those interested in rehabilitation pastoral care in Bad Waldsee and spiritual support at the Charité, there are a variety of offers that provide emotional support in difficult times.
