The “House of Health” on Willy-Brandt-Straße is more than just a health center; It represents the first concrete step towards the desired district freedom of the city of Hanau, which is to be implemented from 2026. City councilor Isabelle Hemsley (CDU) emphasizes that this facility is a symbol of independence for Hanau. By building up local resources, the city should be able to take on the health department's tasks independently.
The role of cooperation
District Administrator Thorsten Stolz (SPD) emphasizes the importance of cooperation between the city and district. This partnership is necessary to effectively address the shortage of skilled workers in the health sector. As part of the new facility, approximately 40 health department employees will be deployed at the “House of Health” who will provide services as needed.
Diverse offers for citizens
The new center will offer a variety of health services and will be accessible not only to the citizens of Hanau but also to the surrounding area. The health service, which previously took place on Salzstrasse in Hanau, will be integrated into the new facility and additional services, such as a nursing base and school entrance examinations, will also be provided.

The city of Hanau is investing in the “House of Health”, which is being built on an area of 640 square meters. The renovation work cost around 200,000 euros, while the furnishing will cost another 100,000 euros. This has immediate economic importance for the city, which must continue to invest in its infrastructure.
Future outlook
The current premises are designed as a temporary solution, while the city of Hanau plans to move to the new city courtyard on the market square in the long term. With more space available, more comprehensive health and prevention offerings will be created there that will be attractive to both citizens and professionals. Discussions with possible partners, including health initiatives, are already underway.
