New phase of life: 33 trainees start at the Ameos Clinic in Ueckermünde

At the Ameos Clinic in Ueckermünde, 33 new trainees took the first step into their professional future. Ameos spokesman Knut Pitz described this start of training as “an important and exciting step into a new professional life”. The prospective specialists will work in different areas of the clinic chain in Western Pomerania.

But before serious everyday life begins, there was an unconventional way of getting to know each other: During a raft trip on the Uecker, the new trainees had the opportunity to exchange ideas with each other and with their trainers. “Hospital director Yvonne Hartmann welcomed the new trainees to Uecker-Ufer and noted that they had all chosen socially relevant careers,” said Pitz.

A creative get to know each other

The raft trip took on a special character, almost like speed dating. “The nursing service managers and the head of the human resources department continually changed their positions in order to exchange ideas with as many newcomers as possible,” Knut Pitz continued. The trainees' initial nervousness quickly subsided, which was mainly due to their “open and communicative nature”. During the approximately two-hour journey, anxious questions were clarified, organizational details were discussed and personal topics were even discussed.

The raft trip came to a convivial end with grilled food and non-alcoholic drinks. Everyone present agreed: a pleasant atmosphere was created that made it easier for new trainees to start their careers. “The feedback was consistently positive and it was clear that everyone involved found the event to be a success,” added Pitz.

Diverse training paths

The 33 new trainees in Western Pomerania have chosen a variety of careers. Among them are 14 who are aiming to train as nurses. In addition, three are starting training to become surgical assistants, two as anesthesia assistants, and four who want to work as medical assistants. Three aspiring specialists also chose to train as healthcare clerks, while two chose to become educators. Also new this year is the training of a medical technologist in radiology and four trainees in the areas of occupational and physical therapy.

The Ameos-Nord Group connects a total of 49 facilities at 26 locations, which together provide 5,500 beds or treatment places. This healthcare group, which operates in the federal states of Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Bremen and Lower Saxony, employs around 6,900 people who are committed to the health and well-being of patients in the region.
