What is Clindagel?

Clindagel side effects
If necessary, get emergency medical helpSigns of an allergic reaction:hives; difficult breathing; Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Clindagel can cause serious side effects. Stop using Clindagel and call your doctor immediately if you have:
-
severe redness, itching or dryness of the treated skin areas; or
-
severe stomach pain, watery or bloody diarrhea (even if this occurs months after your last dose).
Common side effects of Clindagel may include:
-
burning, itching, dryness, peeling or redness of the treated skin; or
-
oily skin.
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You can report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Warnings
You should not use Clindagel if you have ulcerative colitis or enteritis (inflammation of your intestines), or if you have ever had severe diarrhea caused by antibiotics.
Before you take this medicine
You should not use Clindagel if you are allergic to clindamycin or lincomycin or if you have:
-
Inflammation of your intestines (also called enteritis);
-
ulcerative colitis; or
-
if you have ever had severe diarrhea caused by antibiotics.
Tell your doctor if you have ever had:
-
eczema or other skin problems; or
-
an intestinal disorder.
It is not known whether this medicine will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
If you are breastfeeding, tell your doctor if you notice diaper rash, diarrhea, or signs of stomach pain in the breastfed baby. If you use clindamycinfoamAvoid areas that could come into contact with the baby's mouth.
Clindagel is not approved for use by people under 12 years of age.
How should I use Clindagel?
Follow all instructions on your prescription label and read any medication guides or instructions for use. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Do not take orally. Topical medicines should only be used on the skin. Do not use on open wounds or on sunburned, windburned, dry or irritated skin.
Carefully read and follow all instructions for use that come with your medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you do not understand these instructions.
Shake Clindagellotionwell before each use.
Wash your hands before and after using this medicine.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or worsen.
If you need surgery, tell your surgeon that you are currently using this medicine. You may need to take a short break.
Store at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat.
Keep the ClindagelfoamDo not store the canister near open flames or strong heat. Do not puncture the canister or throw an empty canister into a fire.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Use the medicine as soon as possible, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not apply two doses at the same time.
What happens if I overdose?
Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help hotline at 1-800-222-1222.
Symptoms of overdose include bloody or watery diarrhea, which may occur if you absorb Clindagel through excessive application through the skin.
What should I avoid while taking Clindagel?
Do not smoke while using Clindagelfoam, or immediately after application. The contents of the foam canister are flammable.
Antibiotic medications can cause diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have watery or bloody diarrhea, call your doctor. Do not use antidiarrheal medication unless your doctor recommends it.
If this medicine gets into your eyes or mouth, rinse with water.
Do not use other medicated skin products unless your doctor tells you to. Avoid using skin products that may cause irritation, such as: B. harsh soaps, shampoos or skin cleansers, hair dyes or permanent chemicals, hair removers or waxes, and skin products with alcohol, spices, astringents or lime.
What other drugs will affect Clindagel?
Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially:

Erythromycin (taken or applied to the skin).
