What is Epimid 50?
Epimide 50 (for skin) is used to alleviate rough or dry skin caused by skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, keratosis, and others. This medicine is also used to soften damaged fingernails or toenails so that they can be removed without surgery.
Epimide 50 may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Side effects of Epimid 50

Epimid 50 can have serious side effects. Stop using Epimide 50 and call your doctor immediately if you have:

Severe redness or irritation of the treated skin.
Common side effects of Epimid 50 may include:

Before you take this medicine
You should not use Epimide 50 if you are allergic to it.
FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether Epimide 50 will harm an unborn baby.If you are pregnant, you must not use Epimide 50 without medical advice.
It is not known whether topically applied urea passes into breast milk or could harm a breastfed baby.Do not use this medicine without medical advice if you are breast-feeding a baby.
How should I use Epimide 50?
Epimide 50 is available in many different forms (cream, lotion, ointment, liquid, gel, foam, shampoo and others) for use on the skin or scalp. Use your medicine exactly as directed on the label or as directed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller quantities or for longer than recommended.
Do not take orally. Epimide 50 is intended for use on the skin only.If this medication gets into your eyes, nose, mouth, rectum, or vagina, rinse with water.
Use a mild soap or cleanser to wash the skin or nail area to be treated. Epimid 50 may work best if the skin or nail to be treated is kept slightly moist before applying the medicine.
Apply a thin layer of this medicine to the affected skin and rub it in as completely as possible.
When applying Epimide 50 to nails, avoid getting the medicine on the cuticles or surrounding skin. Apply generously to the nail and allow the medicine to dry. If your doctor advises you, you can cover the nail with a bandage or gauze. The treated nail should be easy to remove after a few days.
Shake Epimide 50foamgood just before each use. Other forms of this medicine may also need to be shaken before use. Follow all directions on the medicine label.
After using this medication, wash your hands with soap and water unless you are treating the skin on your hands.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or worsen while using Epimide 50.
Store at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat. Do not freeze. Keep the medicine container tightly closed when not in use.
Keep the foam canister away from open flames or strong heat. The canister may explode if it gets too hot. Do not puncture or burn an empty foam container.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

What should I avoid when using Epimide 50?
Do not use Epimide 50 on open wounds, burns, or areas of swollen skin.If this medication gets into your eyes, nose, mouth, rectum, or vagina, rinse with water.
What other drugs will affect Epimid 50?
Other medications you take orally or inject are unlikely to have an effect on topically applied urea. But many medications can interact with each other. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products.
