Used for First-Testosterone MC

Topical testosterone gel is used to treat men whose bodies do not produce enough natural testosterone, a condition called hypogonadism. Testosterone is a male hormone responsible for the growth and development of male sexual organs and the maintenance of secondary sexual characteristics.

Before using First-Testosterone MC

When deciding whether to use a medicine, the risks of taking the medicine must be weighed against the benefits it produces. This is a decision that you and your doctor will make. The following should be noted with this medicine:

Allergies

Tell your doctor if you have ever had an unusual or allergic reaction to this medicine or any other medicines. Also tell your doctor if you have other allergies, such as to foods, dyes, preservatives or animals. For over-the-counter products, read the label or package ingredients carefully.

Pediatrics

No appropriate studies have been conducted on the relationship between age and the effects of topical testosterone gel in children. Safety and effectiveness have not been established.

geriatrics

Related studies conducted to date have not shown any geriatric-specific problems that would limit the benefit of topical testosterone gel in the elderly. However, older patients may be at increased risk of developing heart and blood vessel problems or prostate problems (including prostate cancer), so caution may be necessary in patients receiving this medicine.

Breastfeeding

Studies of breastfeeding women have shown harmful effects on infants. An alternative to this medication should be prescribed or you should stop breast-feeding while using this medication.

Drug interactions

Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two different medicines can be used together, although interactions may occur. In these cases, your doctor may want to change the dose or other precautions may be necessary. If you are taking this medicine, it is particularly important that your doctor knows whether you are taking any of the medicines listed below. The following interactions were selected for their potential significance and are not necessarily exhaustive.

Using this medicine with any of the following medicines is not usually recommended but may be necessary in some cases. If both medicines are prescribed together, your doctor may change the dose or how often you use one or both medicines.

Interactions with food/tobacco/alcohol

Certain medicines should not be taken during or near food or consumption of certain foods because interactions may occur. Consuming alcohol or tobacco with certain medications can also lead to interactions. Discuss using your medicine with food, alcohol or tobacco with your doctor.

Other medical problems

The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of this medicine. Be sure to tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially:

Correct use of First-Testosterone MC

This medication includes a medication guide and patient instructions. Read and follow these instructions carefully. Ask your doctor if you have any questions.

Androgel® or Fortesta® is available in two forms: single packs or multi-dose pumps. Vogelxo™ is available in three forms: single packs, multi-dose pump or tube. If you are using the pump gel for the first time, prime the pump before measuring your first dose. Hold the pump over a sink and push the pump all the way down at least three times (Androgel® or Vogelxo™) or eight times (Fortesta®), or until the gel begins to flow freely. Flush the discarded medicine down the sink drain. Place your palm under the pump and press the pump repeatedly until you get the correct dose.

If you use the gel in foil packaging, tear the packaging completely open along the perforation. Squeeze the entire contents directly onto the skin where you want to apply the gel. You can also empty the pack into the palm of your hand and then apply the medicine. Dispose of the empty foil packaging in a place where children and pets cannot reach it.

Axiron® is available in two forms:

• Pumpbetätigte Dosierflasche – Füllen Sie sie bei der ersten Verwendung vor, bevor Sie Ihre erste Dosis abmessen. AndroGel® is available in two dosage strengths: AndroGel® 1% and AndroGel® 1.62%. AndroGel® 1% is used differently than AndroGel® 1.62%, although both are applied to the skin. Do not change your dose unless your doctor tells you to.

How to use the gel:

How to use the topical solution:

The gel or solution form can be passed to another person if they touch or rub the skin where the medicine was applied, or if any of it remains on your hands. To prevent this, wash your hands again after using the medicine. Also, wash the area where you applied the gel with soap and water if you expect skin contact with another person.

This medicine is flammable until it dries on the skin. Do not use it near heat, open flames or while smoking.

The dose of this medicine is different for different patients. Follow your doctor's instructions or the label directions. The following information includes average doses of this medicine only. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to.

The amount of medicine you take depends on the strength of the medicine. In addition, the number of doses you take each day, the time between doses, and how long you take the medicine depend on the medical problem for which you are using the medicine.

Missed dose

If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule.

Keep away from children.

Do not keep medications that are outdated or no longer needed.

Ask your doctor how to throw away medicines you don't use.

Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Protect from freezing.

Store the medicine in a safe place. Do not share it with anyone, even if you have the same symptoms. Dispose of the empty pump, hose or pack in a place where children and pets cannot reach it.

Precautions when using First-Testosterone MC

It is very important that your doctor checks your progress at regular visits to see if the medicine is working properly. Blood tests may be needed to determine if there are any problems or adverse effects.

This medicine should not be used by women. Testosterone can cause birth defects if a pregnant woman comes into contact with the drug. Make sure your doctor knows whether your sexual partner is pregnant. If pregnancy occurs while using this medication, tell your doctor immediately.

This medicine can be habit forming. If you feel that the medicine is not working as well, do not take more than the prescribed dose. Call your doctor for instructions.

Children and women should avoid contact with the unwashed or unclothed area where the testosterone gel has been applied. If this medicine accidentally gets on someone else's skin, wash the affected area with soap and water as quickly as possible.

Tell your doctor if your partner or child experiences male body changes while using this medicine. Such changes may include facial hair growth, a deeper voice, or a significant increase in acne. Changes may also include an enlarged penis or clitoris, early development of pubic hair, increased erections or sexual desire, aggressive behavior, and bone problems.

This medicine may cause blood clotting problems. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience chest pain, difficulty breathing, coughing up blood, numbness or weakness in your arm or leg or on one side of your body, or pain in your lower leg (calf) while using this medication.

This medicine may increase your risk of heart or blood vessel problems, including heart attack or stroke. Tell your doctor right away if you have chest pain that may spread to your arms, jaw, back, or neck, fainting, headache, nausea, vomiting, trouble breathing, difficulty seeing or speaking, or unusual sweating.

In some cases, this medicine may reduce the amount of sperm produced by men and affect their ability to have children. If you plan to have children, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.

Contact your doctor immediately if you have pain or tenderness in your upper abdomen, pale stools, dark urine, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, or yellow eyes or skin. These could be symptoms of serious liver disease.

This medicine may cause fluid retention (edema) in some patients. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience bloating or swelling of your face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet, tingling in your hands or feet, or unusual weight gain or loss.

This medicine may affect the results of the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, which can be used to detect prostate cancer. Make sure you tell all your doctors that you are using this medicine.

Before you have a medical examination, tell your doctor that you are using this medicine. The results of some tests may be affected by this medicine.

Do not take any other medicines unless you have discussed this with your doctor. This includes both prescription and nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medications and herbal or vitamin supplements.

Side effects of First-Testosterone MC

In addition to the necessary effects, a medicine may also have some undesirable effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, medical attention may be required if they occur.
