What is this product used for?

Some information from medical studies suggests that using lithium orotate may help with alcoholism or low mood, which are part of bipolar disorder.

What precautions should be taken when taking this product?

  • Always consult your doctor before using any natural product. Some products may not mix well with medications or other natural products.

  • Do not use this product if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant soon. When taking this product, use a birth control method you can trust.

  • Do not use this product if you are breastfeeding.

  • Be especially careful if you are taking medications that affect your kidneys. These are medications such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), ibuprofen, ramipril or losartan.

  • Be especially careful if you take medications that increase serotonin levels in your body. These include some cough medicines, SSRIs or MAO inhibitors. These include products such as St. John's wort, dextromethorphan, fluoxetine, citalopram, isocarboxazid, phenelzine and tranylcypromine.

  • Be especially careful if you are taking medications that make you sleepy or help you sleep. These are medications such as lorazepam, phenobarbital, zolpidem or diphenhydramine.

  • This product may cause drowsiness. Use extra caution when driving or performing tasks that require alertness.

  • Be especially careful and consult your doctor if you have:

    • Kidney problems

    • Psychological problems

    • heart disease

    • Thyroid problems

    • Dehydration

    • Very poor health

  • Decreased appetite

When do I have to call the doctor?

  • Signs of a very bad reaction. These include wheezing; chest tightness; Fever; Itching; bad cough; blue skin color; seizures; or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat. Go to the emergency room immediately.

  • Signs of too much lithium in your body. These include loose stools or diarrhea, vomiting, shaking movements, problems walking or speaking, or weak muscles.
