What is Milantex?

Side effects of Milantex
If necessary, get emergency medical helpSigns of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
This medicine can cause serious side effects. Stop using this medicine and call your doctor immediately if you have:

bone pain, muscle weakness;
-
confusion, changes in your mental status, seizures; or
-
pale skin, lightheadedness or shortness of breath, fast heartbeat.
Less serious side effects may be more likely, and you may not have any at all.

Warnings
This medicine may make it harder for your body to absorb other medicines, especially certain antibiotics. Avoid taking other medicines within 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking Milantex.
Before you take this medicine
You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, or simethicone.
Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe to use this medicine if you have:

kidney disease; or
-
if you are on a diet low in magnesium.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a doctor before using this medicine.
Do not give this medicine to a child under 12 years of age without medical advice.
How should I take Milantex?
Use exactly as directed on the label or as prescribed by your doctor.
You must chew the chewable tablet before swallowing it.
Shake thatoral suspension(liquid) before measuring a dose. Use the dosing cup provided or a medication dosing device (not a kitchen spoon).
Do not take more than the maximum dose recommended on the medicine label. Do not take this medicine at the maximum dosage for more than 2 weeks in a row.
Typically, an antacid is taken for a short time until symptoms subside. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve within 2 weeks of taking this medication.
Store at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat. Do not allow liquid medicines to freeze.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Because Milantex is used as needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not use two doses at the same time.

Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help hotline at 1-800-222-1222.
What should I avoid while taking Milantex?

What other drugs will affect Milantex?
Other medications can affect Milantex, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell your doctor about all medications you are currently taking and any medications you are taking or stopping.
