Naftin

What is Naftine?

Naftin (for use on the skin) is used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, itching, and ringworm infections. Naftin is intended for use in adults and children aged 12 and over.

Naftin may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Naftine side effects

If necessary, get emergency medical helpSigns of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Naftine can cause serious side effects. Call your doctor immediately if you have:

  • severe skin irritation after using this medicine.

Common side effects may include dryness or irritation of the treated skin.

Follow all instructions on the label and packaging of your medicine. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all your medical conditions, allergies and any medications you take.

Before you take this medicine

You should not use Naftin if you are allergic to it.

It is not known whether Naftin will harm an unborn child. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant.

Breastfeeding may not be safe while using Naftin. Ask your doctor about any risks.

Naftingelshould not be used in children under 12 years. This medicationcreamis not approved for use by persons under 18 years of age.

How should I use Naftin?

Follow all instructions on your prescription label and read any medication guides or instructions for use. Use the medicine exactly as directed.

Do not take orally. Topical medicines should only be used on the skin.If this medicine gets into your eyes or mouth, rinse with water.

Wash your hands before and after taking this medicine.

Clean and dry the affected area before applying the cream or gel.

Use this medicine for the full time prescribed, even if your symptoms improve quickly. Skipping doses may increase the risk of a drug-resistant infection.

Call your doctor if the infection you are treating with Naftin does not improve within 4 weeks or gets worse.

Do not use bandages or bandages that do not allow air circulation over the affected area (occlusive bandages) unless your doctor tells you otherwise. A light cotton gauze bandage can be used to protect clothing.

Store at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Use the medicine as soon as possible, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose.

What happens if I overdose?

An overdose of Naftin is not expected to be dangerous. Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help hotline at 1-800-222-1222 if someone accidentally swallows the medication.

What should I avoid when using naftifine topically?

Do not get Naftin into your eyes, nose, mouth, rectum, or vagina.In case of contact, rinse with water.

Avoid using other medications on the areas you are treating with naftine unless your doctor tells you to.

Avoid wearing tight-fitting synthetic clothing that does not allow air circulation. Wear loose-fitting clothing made from cotton and other natural fibers until the infection clears.

What other drugs affect naftine?

The medicine used on the skin is unlikely to be affected by other medicines you use. But many medications can interact with each other. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products.
