What is Razadyne?

Warnings

Follow all instructions on the label and packaging of your medicine. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all your medical conditions, allergies and any medications you take.

Before you take this medicine

You should not use Razadyne if you are allergic to it or to any of the product's inactive ingredients.

To make sure Razadyne is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:

• Probleme beim Wasserlassen;

• Nierenerkrankung;

pregnancy

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is not known whether Razadyne will harm an unborn baby.

Breastfeeding

Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding or plan to breast-feed. It is not known whether this medicine passes into breast milk or whether it could affect a breast-fed baby.

How should I take Razadyne?

Take Razadyne exactly as your doctor has told you. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to ensure you get the best results. Do not use this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

Read all patient information, medication guides and instructions for use provided to you. If you have any questions, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Take Razadyne with a full glass of water. Drink 6 to 8 full glasses of water every day to prevent dehydration while taking this medication.

If you need surgery, tell the surgeon in advance that you are using Razadyne. You may need to stop using the medicine for a short time.

If you have stopped taking Razadyne for any reason, talk to your doctor before you start taking it again. You may need to restart taking the medication at a lower dose.

Razadyne extended-release capsule

Razadyne extended-release capsule is usually takenonce a day in the morning. Follow your doctor's instructions.

The extended-release capsule works best when you take it with food.

Do not crush, chew, break, or open an extended-release capsule. Swallow it whole.

Razadyne short-acting tablet or oral solution (liquid)

The short-acting Razadyne tablet or oral solution (liquid) is usually given twice daily with meals. Follow your doctor's instructions.

Measure liquid medication using the dosing syringe provided or a special dosing spoon or medication cup. If you don't have a dose measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.

dosage

Usual Adult Dose for Alzheimer's Disease:

Immediate-release tablet and oral solution:

Initial dose:

• 4 mg oral zweimal täglich, vorzugsweise zum Morgen- und Abendessen
• Nach mindestens vier Wochen die Dosis auf 8 mg zweimal täglich erhöhen, nach weiteren 4 Wochen möglicherweise auf 12 mg zweimal täglich erhöhen.

Maintenance dose:

• 16 bis 24 mg pro Tag, verteilt auf 2 Einzeldosen.

Maximum dose:

• 24 mg/Tag

Extended-release capsule:

Starting dose:

• 8 mg oral einmal täglich, vorzugsweise zur Morgenmahlzeit.
• Nach 4 Wochen sollte die Dosis auf 16 mg einmal täglich erhöht werden. Eine weitere Erhöhung auf 24 mg einmal täglich kann nach mindestens 4 Wochen Einnahme von 16 mg/Tag in Betracht gezogen werden.

Maintenance dose:

• 16 bis 24 mg oral einmal täglich, je nach klinischem Nutzen und Verträglichkeit.

Maximum dose:

• 24 mg/Tag.

Switching from immediate-release (IR) tablets or oral solution to extended-release (ER) capsules:

• Nehmen Sie die letzte Dosis der IR-Formulierung am Abend vor Beginn der ER-Kapsel ein; Beginnen Sie mit der Einnahme der ER-Kapsel am nächsten Morgen einmal täglich.
• Die Umstellung von IR auf ER sollte bei gleicher Gesamttagesdosis erfolgen.

Comments:

• In klinischen Studien wurde festgestellt, dass eine schnell freisetzende Dosis von 32 mg pro Tag weniger gut verträglich war und den klinischen Nutzen nicht steigerte; Bei einer Dosierung von 24 mg/Tag wurde kein statistisch signifikant erhöhter klinischer Nutzen gegenüber 16 mg/Tag festgestellt; Für einige Patienten könnte es jedoch einen zusätzlichen Nutzen bringen.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help hotline at 1-800-222-1222.

Symptoms of overdose may include severe nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, muscle weakness or cramps, watery eyes, salivation, increased urination or bowel movements, sweating, slow heartbeat, lightheadedness or fainting, and seizures.

What should I avoid while taking Razadyne?

This medication may affect your thinking or reactions. Be careful when driving or doing anything that requires your attention.

Razadyne side effects

Get medical help right away if you notice any signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Razadyne can cause serious skin reactions. Stop using Razadyne and call your doctor immediately if you notice the first signs of a rash, no matter how mild.

Razadyne can cause serious side effects. Call your doctor immediately if you have:

• Brustschmerzen, langsamer Herzschlag;
• wenig oder kein Urinieren;
• Blut in Ihrem Urin;
• Anzeichen von Magenblutungen – blutiger oder teeriger Stuhl, Bluthusten oder Erbrochenes, das wie Kaffeesatz aussieht;
• Leberprobleme – Übelkeit, Schmerzen im Oberbauch, Juckreiz, Müdigkeit, Appetitlosigkeit, dunkler Urin, lehmfarbener Stuhl, Gelbsucht (Gelbfärbung der Haut oder der Augen);
• Dehydrationssymptome – starkes Durst- oder Hitzegefühl, Unfähigkeit, Wasser zu lassen, starkes Schwitzen oder heiße und trockene Haut;
• ein benommenes Gefühl, als ob Sie ohnmächtig werden würden; oder
• schwere Hautreaktion – Fieber, Halsschmerzen, Schwellung im Gesicht oder auf der Zunge, Brennen in den Augen, Hautschmerzen, gefolgt von einem roten oder violetten Hautausschlag, der sich ausbreitet (besonders im Gesicht oder Oberkörper) und Blasenbildung und Abblättern verursacht.

Common side effects of Razadyne may include:

• Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Durchfall, Appetitlosigkeit;
• Kopfschmerzen, Schwindel; oder
• Gewichtsverlust.

What other drugs will affect Razadyne?

Tell your doctor about all medications you are currently taking and any medications you are taking or stopping, especially:

• Atropin;
