Riabni

What is Riabni?

  • non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or chronic lymphocytic leukemia;

  • rheumatoid arthritis; or

  • Pemphigus vulgaris – a severe autoimmune reaction that causes blisters and damage to the skin and mucous membranes.

Riabni is also used in adults and children ages 2 and older with certain medical conditions that cause inflammation of the blood vessels and other tissues in the body.

Riabni may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Riabni side effects

If necessary, get emergency medical helpSigns of an allergic reaction(hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat)or a severe skin reaction(Fever, sore throat, burning eyes, skin pain, red or purple rash with blistering and peeling).

Some side effects may occur during the injection (or within 24 hours after). Tell your caregiver immediately if you experience itching, dizziness, weakness, lightheadedness, or shortness of breath, or if you experience chest pain, wheezing, sudden cough, or palpitations or fluttering in the chest.

Riabni can cause a serious brain infection that can lead to disability or death.Call your doctor immediately if you have any of the following symptoms (which may start gradually and get worse quickly):

  • confusion, memory problems or other changes in your mental state;

  • weakness on one side of the body;

  • visual disturbances; or

  • Problems speaking or walking.

Call your doctor immediately if you experience any of these other side effects:even if they occur several months after taking Riabni or after your treatment ends.

  • painful skin or mouth sores or a severe rash with blistering, peeling, or pus;

  • redness, warmth, or swelling of the skin;

  • severe stomach pain, vomiting, constipation, bloody or tarry stools;

  • irregular heartbeat, pain or pressure in the chest, pain spreading to the jaw or shoulder;

  • tiredness or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);

  • Signs of infection – fever, chills, cold or flu symptoms, cough, sore throat, mouth sores, headache, earache, pain or burning when urinating; or

  • Signs of tumor cell breakdown - confusion, weakness, muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting, fast or slow heartbeat, decreased urination, tingling in your hands and feet or around your mouth.

Common side effects of Riabni may include:

  • low white and red blood cells (fever, chills, body aches, pale skin, unusual tiredness, infections);

  • nausea, diarrhea;

  • swelling of hands or feet;

  • headache, weakness;

  • painful urination;

  • muscle cramps;

  • depressed mood; or

  • Cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat.

Warnings

Riabni can cause a serious brain infection that can lead to disability or death. Call your doctor immediately if you have problems with speech, thinking, vision, or muscle movement. These symptoms can start gradually and get worse quickly.

Tell your doctor if you have ever had hepatitis B. Riabni can cause this condition to come back or get worse.

Serious skin problems may also occur during treatment with Riabni. Call your doctor if you have painful skin or mouth pain or a severe rash with blistering, peeling, or pus.

Some side effects may occur during the injection or within 24 hours afterward.Inform your supervisor immediatelyif you feel itching, dizziness, weakness, lightheadedness or shortness of breath or if you have chest pain, wheezing, sudden cough or heart palpitations or fluttering in the chest.

Before you take this medicine

Riabni can cause a serious brain infection that can lead to disability or death. This infection may be more likely if you have taken an immunosuppressant medicine in the past or if you received this medicine as part of a stem cell transplant.

Tell your doctor if you have ever had:

  • liver disease or hepatitis (or if you are a carrier of hepatitis B);

  • an infection, including herpes, shingles, cytomegalovirus, chickenpox, parvovirus, West Nile virus, or hepatitis B or C;

  • kidney disease;

  • lung disease or breathing disorder;

  • a weak immune system (caused by illness or taking certain medications);

  • heart disease, angina (chest pain) or irregular heart rhythm; or

  • if you have used Riabni in the past or have had a severe allergic reaction to this medicine.

You should be up to date on all required vaccinations before starting Riabni treatment. Tell your doctor if you (or a child receiving this medicine) have received any vaccinations in the last 4 weeks.

Do not use Riabni if ​​you are pregnant.It could harm the unborn child. Use effective contraception to prevent pregnancy while using Riabni and for at least 12 months after the last dose.

Do not breast-feed while using this medicine.and for at least 6 months after your last dose.

How is Riabni administered?

Your doctor will do blood tests to make sure you do not have any medical conditions that would prevent you from using Riabni safely.

Riabni is given as an infusion into a vein. A doctor will give you this injection.

Riabni is not given daily. Your schedule will depend on the condition being treated. Follow your doctor's dosage instructions very carefully.

Before each injection, you may be given other medications to prevent certain side effects of rituximab.

You need frequent medical examinations.

If you have ever had hepatitis B, using Riabni may cause this virus to become active or worsen. Frequent liver function tests may be required while using this medication and for several months after stopping use.

If you need surgery, tell the surgeon in advance that you are using Riabni.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Call your doctor if you miss an appointment for your Riabni.

What happens if I overdose?

Because this medication is administered by a healthcare professional in a medical setting, overdose is unlikely.

What should I avoid while taking Riabni?

Do not receive a live vaccine while using Riabni. Live vaccines include measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), rotavirus, typhoid, yellow fever, varicella (chickenpox), zoster (shingles), and nasal flu (influenza).

What other medications affect Riabni?

Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially:

  • Medicines used to treat conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or psoriasis - adalimumab, certolizumab, etanercept, golimumab, infliximab, leflunomide, methotrexate, sulfasalazine, tocilizumab, tofacitinib and others.
