High radiation exposure when using the wrong eluent

Using the wrong eluent can result in high Strontium (Sr) 82 and Sr 85 breakthrough values.

Use only additive-free 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection USP to elute the generator.

Immediately stop the patient's infusion and permanently discontinue use of the affected cardio device

Gen-82 generator if the wrong solution is used to elute the generator.

Assess the patient's absorbed radiation dose and monitor the effects of radiation on critical organs such as the bone marrow.

Excessive radiation exposure if the eluate testing protocol is not followed

Excessive radiation exposure occurs when concentrations of Sr 82 or Sr 85 in rubidium Rb-82 chloride injection exceed limits.

Record the eluate volume, including waste and test volumes.

Strictly follow the generator eluate testing protocol.

Stop using the generator when it reaches one of its expiration limits.

When deciding whether to use a medicine, the risks of taking the medicine must be weighed against the benefits it produces. This is a decision that you and your doctor will make. The following should be noted with this medicine:

Allergies

Tell your doctor if you have ever had an unusual or allergic reaction to this medicine or any other medicines. Also tell your doctor if you have other allergies, such as to foods, dyes, preservatives or animals. For over-the-counter products, read the label or package ingredients carefully.

Pediatrics

No appropriate studies have been conducted on the relationship between age and the effects of Rubidium Rb 82 injection in children and adolescents. Safety and effectiveness have not been established.

geriatrics

Related studies conducted to date have not shown any geriatric-specific problems that would limit the benefit of Rubidium Rb 82 injection in the elderly. However, older patients are at higher risk of age-related heart problems, so caution may be warranted in patients receiving Rubidium Rb 82 injection.

Breastfeeding

There are insufficient studies in women to determine the risk to infants when using this drug while breast-feeding. Weigh the potential benefits against the potential risks before taking this medication while breastfeeding.

Drug interactions

Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two different medicines can be used together, although interactions may occur. In these cases, your doctor may want to change the dose or other precautions may be necessary. Tell your doctor if you are taking other prescription or nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medicine.

Interactions with food/tobacco/alcohol

Proper use of rubidium rb 82

A doctor or other trained healthcare professional will give you this medicine. This medicine is given through a needle into one of your veins just before you have a PET scan.

You must urinate as often as possible immediately and for at least an hour after the PET scan.

Precautions when using Rubidium RB 82

It is very important that your doctor closely monitors your progress during treatment with this medicine. This will help your doctor determine whether the medicine is working properly and decide whether you should continue to receive it.

You may be given a medication that makes your heart beat faster. This is called a pharmacological stress test. It is used along with the PET scan to show how well your heart muscle works under stress. If you have any questions about this test, contact your doctor.

You will be exposed to radiation while you are receiving this medicine. If you have any questions about this, talk to your doctor.

Side effects of rubidium rb 82

In addition to the necessary effects, a medicine may also have some undesirable effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, medical attention may be required if they occur.

Some side effects may occur that usually do not require medical attention. These side effects may disappear during treatment as your body gets used to the medicine.
