What is SenoSol-SS?
SenoSol-SS is a combination medicine used to treat occasional constipation.
SenoSol-SS can also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Side effects of SenoSol-SS
If necessary, get emergency medical helpSigns of an allergic reaction:hives; difficulty breathing; Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
SenoSol-SS can cause serious side effects. Stop using SenoSol-SS and call your doctor immediately if you have:

rectal bleeding;

severe stomach pain, nausea, vomiting; or
-
no bowel movements.
Common side effects of SenoSol-SS may include:

flatulence, flatulence;

Diarrhea; or
-
slight nausea.

Before you take this medicine
You should not use SenoSol-SS if you are allergic to docusate or senna or if you are also taking mineral oil.
Ask a doctor or pharmacist whether it is safe to use this medicine if you have ever had:

nausea or vomiting;

stomach pain;
-
a sudden change in bowel habits that lasts 2 weeks or longer; or
-
an intestinal disease such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a doctor before using this medicine.
Do not give this medicine to a child under 2 years of age without medical advice.
How should I use SenoSol-SS?
Use exactly as directed on the label or as prescribed by your doctor.
Take SenoSol-SS with a full glass of water.
It may be best to take this medicine at night or before bed. SenoSol-SS should cause you to have a bowel movement within 6 to 12 hours.
Do not take SenoSol-SS for more than 7 days in a row unless your doctor recommends it.
Call your doctor if your constipation does not improve or worsens after taking SenoSol-SS.
Store at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Because SenoSol-SS is used as needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not use two doses at the same time.
What happens if I overdose?
Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help hotline at 1-800-222-1222.
Symptoms of an overdose may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or diarrhea.
What should I avoid when using SenoSol-SS?
Consult a doctor or pharmacist before using other laxatives or other stool softeners that may contain docusate or senna-like ingredients.
What other drugs will affect SenoSol-SS?
Other medications can affect SenoSol-SS, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell your doctor about all medications you are currently taking and any medications you are taking or stopping.
