SINEquan (oral)
SINEquan (oral)
Oral route (capsule; solution)
Antidepressants increased the risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior in children, adolescents, and young adults in short-term studies of major depressive disorder (MDD) and other psychiatric disorders. Short-term studies showed no increase in the risk of suicide with antidepressants compared to placebo in adults over 24 years of age, and there was a reduction in risk with antidepressants compared to placebo in adults 65 years of age and older. This risk must be balanced with the clinical need. Monitor patients closely for clinical deterioration, suicidality, or unusual behavioral changes. Families and caregivers should be made aware of the need for close observation and communication with the prescriber. Not approved for use in pediatric patients.
Possible uses for SINEquan
Doxepin is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA). It acts on the central nervous system (CNS) to increase levels of certain chemicals in the brain.
This medicine is only available with a doctor's prescription.
Before using SINEquan
When deciding whether to use a medicine, the risks of taking the medicine must be weighed against the benefits it produces. This is a decision that you and your doctor will make. The following should be noted with this medicine:
Allergies
Tell your doctor if you have ever had an unusual or allergic reaction to this medicine or any other medicines. Also tell your doctor if you have other allergies, such as to foods, dyes, preservatives or animals. For over-the-counter products, read the label or package ingredients carefully.
Pediatrics
No relevant studies have been conducted on the relationship between age and the effects of doxepin capsules and solution for the treatment of depression and anxiety in children under 12 years of age. Safety and effectiveness have not been established.
No appropriate studies have been conducted on the association of age with the effects of doxepin tablets for the treatment of insomnia in children and adolescents. Safety and effectiveness have not been established.
geriatrics
Studies conducted to date have not shown any geriatric-specific problems that would limit the benefit of doxepin in the elderly. However, older patients are at higher risk of adverse effects (e.g., confusion or unusual sleepiness) or age-related heart, liver, or kidney problems, which may require caution and dose adjustment in patients receiving doxepin.
Breastfeeding
Studies of breastfeeding women have shown harmful effects on infants. An alternative to this medication should be prescribed or you should stop breast-feeding while using this medication.
Drug interactions
Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two different medicines can be used together, although interactions may occur. In these cases, your doctor may want to change the dose or other precautions may be necessary. Precautions when using SINEquan
It is very important that your doctor checks you or your child's progress at regular visits to allow for any changes in the dose and to check for any unwanted effects.
In some children, teenagers and young adults, this medicine may increase suicidal thoughts. Tell your doctor or your child's doctor immediately if you or your child begin to feel more depressed and think about harming themselves. Report any unusual thoughts or behaviors that worry you or your child, especially if they are new or get worse quickly. Make sure the doctor knows if you or your child is having trouble sleeping, getting upset easily, experiencing a sharp increase in energy, or starting to behave recklessly. Also tell the doctor if you or your child experience any sudden or strong feelings, such as: B. Nervousness, anger, restlessness, violence or fear. Tell the doctor if you or anyone in your family has bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness) or has tried to commit suicide.
Do not take Doxepin if you have taken a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor (e.g. isocarboxazid [Marplan®]phenelzine [Nardil®]selegiline [Eldepryl®]or tranylcypromine [Parnate®]) in the last 2 weeks. If you do this, you may experience confusion, agitation, agitation, stomach or intestinal distress, sudden high body temperature, extremely high blood pressure, or severe convulsions.
If you or your child are using this medicine for depression or anxiety, do not stop taking it without talking to your doctor first. Some examples of CNS depressants include antihistamines or medications for hay fever, allergies, or colds, sedatives, sedatives, or sleeping pills, prescription painkillers or narcotics, antiseizure medications or barbiturates, muscle relaxants, or anesthetics, including some dental anesthetics. This effect may last for a few days after you stop taking this medicine. Consult your doctor before taking any of the above medicines while you or your child are using this medicine.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while taking this medicine. This medicine may cause sedation symptoms (e.g., difficulty breathing, sluggishness, low muscle tone, problems feeding, or withdrawal symptoms) in the baby during the third trimester.
If you plan to have children, talk to your doctor before using this medicine. Some men and women using this medicine have become infertile (unable to have children).
