What is Sochlor (ophthalmic)?

Sochlor can have serious side effects. Stop using Sochlor and call your doctor immediately if you have:
- 
eye pain;
 - 
severe or persistent eye redness or irritation;
 - 
visual disturbances; or
 - 
Worsening of your eye disease.
 
Common side effects of Sochlor may include:
- 
slight burning or irritation in your eyes.

Warnings
Follow all instructions on the label and packaging of your medicine. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all your medical conditions, allergies and any medications you take.
Before you take this medicine
Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe to use this medication if you have a medical condition or allergy.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a doctor before using this medicine.
How should I use Sochlor?
Use exactly as directed on the label or as prescribed by your doctor.
Wash your hands before applying eye medications.
How to apply the ointment: Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down to create a small pocket. Squeeze a band of ointment from the tube into this pocket. Blink your eye gently and then keep it closed for 1 to 2 minutes. Wipe excess ointment from your eyelashes with a clean cloth.
How to apply the eye drops: Remove the contact lenses before use. Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down to create a small pocket. Hold the eyedropper over the eye and squeeze a drop into this pocket. Close your eyes for 1 or 2 minutes.
Only use the number of drops prescribed by your doctor.
Do not touch the tip of the ointment tube or eye dropper or place the tip directly on your eye. A contaminated tip can infect your eye and cause serious vision problems.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve within 72 hours.
Do not use the ointment if it contains particles. Do not use the eye drops if the liquid looks cloudy. Call your pharmacist for a new medicine.
Store at room temperature. Do not freeze. Keep the tube or bottle tightly closed when not in use. Store eye drops upright.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Use the medicine as soon as possible, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not use two doses at the same time.
What happens if I overdose?
An overdose of Sochlor is not expected to be dangerous. Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help hotline at 1-800-222-1222 if someone accidentally swallows the medication.
What should I avoid when using sodium chloride, hypertonic or ophthalmic agent?
Follow your doctor's instructions regarding any food, drink, or activity restrictions.
What other medications affect sodium chloride, hypertensive, and eye medications?
Medications you use in the eyes are unlikely to be affected by other medications you are taking. But many medications can interact with each other. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products.
