What is TriaDime-80?
Dimethicone topical (for skin) is used to protect and soothe cracked or cracked skin. Triamcinolone is used topically to treat inflammation and itching caused by skin conditions that respond to steroid medications.
TriaDime-80 may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Side effects of TriaDime-80
If necessary, get emergency medical helpSigns of an allergic reaction:hives; difficult breathing; Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
TriaDime-80 can cause serious side effects. Call your doctor immediately if you have:

skin infection;
-
worsening of your skin condition;
-
Redness, warmth, swelling, oozing or severe irritation of the treated skin;
-
blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around lights;
-
high blood sugar – increased thirst, increased urination, dry mouth, fruity breath smell; or
-
Possible signs of absorbing TriaDime-80 through your skin or gums - weight gain (especially in the face or upper back and torso), slow wound healing, thinning or discolored skin, increased body hair, muscle weakness, nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, mood changes, menstrual changes, sexual changes.
Children may absorb larger amounts of this medicine through the skin and may be at higher risk of side effects such as stunted growth, headache, or pain behind the eyes. A baby taking this medicine may have a bulging soft spot (the top of the head where the skull has not yet grown together).
Common side effects of TriaDime-80 may include:

burning, itching, dryness or other irritation of the treated skin;
-
redness or crusting around your hair follicles;
-
redness or itching around the mouth;
-
allergic skin reaction;
-
stretch marks;
-
acne, increased hair growth on the body;
-
thinning skin or discoloration; or
-
White or “clipped” appearance of the skin (caused by covering treated skin with a tight bandage or other covering).

Warnings
Use only as directed. Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines or have any other medical conditions or allergies.
Before you take this medicine
You should not use dimethicone and triamcinolone if you are allergic to them.
Do not use the soft silicone band if you are allergic to silicone.
Tell your doctor if you have ever had:
-
any type of skin infection;
-
a skin reaction to steroid medications;
-
liver disease; or
-
a disorder of the adrenal gland.
Steroid medications can increase the levels of glucose (sugar) in your blood or urine. Tell your doctor if you have diabetes.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. When applying TriaDime-80 to your breast, avoid areas that may come into contact with the breastfed baby's mouth.
Do not use TriaDime-80 on a child without medical advice.
How should I use TriaDime-80?
This medication comes in a kit containing dimethicone cream and triamcinolone cream for topical use, as well as a soft silicone band used to cover and secure the product.
Follow all instructions on your prescription label and read any medication guides or instructions for use. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Carefully read and follow all instructions for use that come with your medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you do not understand these instructions.
Apply a thin layer of the medicine to the affected skin and rub gently. Do not apply this medicine to a large area of skin unless directed by your doctor.
Do not take orally. Topical medicines should only be used on the skin.
Wash your hands before and after using TriaDime-80 unless you are using this medicine to treat the skin on your hands.
Do not cover the treated area of skin with a bandage or other covering unless your doctor tells you to do so. Covering the treated areas may increase the absorption of the medication through the skin and may cause harmful effects. Use the included soft silicone band as directed by your doctor.
After 24 hours, remove the soft silicone band, wash the area and replace it with a new one.
When treating the diaper area, do not use plastic pants or tight-fitting diapers.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or worsen.
You should not suddenly stop using TriaDime-80. Follow your doctor's instructions for reducing the dose.
Store at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Use the medicine as soon as possible, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not apply two doses at the same time.
What happens if I overdose?
Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help hotline at 1-800-222-1222 if someone accidentally swallows the medication.
High doses or long-term use of steroid medications may result in thinning skin, easy bruising, changes in body fat (especially in the face, neck, back, and waist), increased acne or facial hair, menstrual problems, impotence, or loss of interest in sex.
What should I avoid when using TriaDime-80?
Avoid getting TriaDime-80 in your eyes.
Avoid using other topical steroid medications on the areas you are treating with TriaDime-80 unless directed to do so by your doctor.
Do not use TriaDime-80 to treat any condition that has not been evaluated by your doctor.
Do not share this medicine with anyone else, even if they have the same symptoms as you.
What other drugs will affect TriaDime-80?
Medications applied to the skin are unlikely to be affected by other medications you are taking, but many medications can interact. Tell your doctor about all your current medications, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products.
