What is “Stay Awake”?
Stay Awake should not be used as a substitute for sleep.
Stay Awake may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Side Effects of Staying Awake.
Get medical help right away if you notice any signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using Stay Awake and call your doctor if you have:

persistent tiredness or sleepiness; or
-
persistent sleep problems.
Common side effects of Stay Awake may include:

feel restless;
-
loss of appetite; or
-
Sleep problems (insomnia).

Before you take this medicine
Stay Awake is not intended for use by anyone under 12 years of age. This medicated chewing gum should not be used by people under 18 years of age or those who are sensitive to this medicine.
Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe to use Stay Awake if you have ever had:

heart problems;
-
high blood pressure;
-
a stomach ulcer; or
-
Liver disease.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
How should I take Stay Awake?
Use exactly as directed on the label or as prescribed by your doctor.
Each dose of this product typically contains about as much Stay Awake as a cup of coffee, a can of cola, or an energy drink.
Do not use more of this product than recommended on the label.The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends consuming no more than 400 milligrams of caffeine per day in any form.
You can take the Stay Awake tablet regardless of meals.
Do not chew more than 2 pieces of Stay Awake gum at a time. Do not swallow the gum whole.
Store at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Because Stay Awake is used as needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not use two doses at the same time.
What happens if I overdose?
Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help hotline at 1-800-222-1222.
Symptoms of overdose may include rapid heartbeat, trouble sleeping, or nervousness or irritability.
What should I avoid while taking Stay Awake?
Avoid foods or drinks that contain “stay awake,” such as coffee, tea, cola, or chocolate milk.
What other medications will affect Stay Awake?
Consult a doctor or pharmacist before using Stay Awake with other medications, especially tizanidine.
Other medications may affect Stay Awake, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell your doctor about all medications you are currently taking and any medications you are taking or stopping.
