Treating Arthritis Symptoms: 4 Approaches!
Arthritis in its many forms and with its specific symptoms etc. is common and one of the most common diseases we experience! It comes in a variety of forms and manners and severities etc! In addition, we observe different approaches and ways of thinking about how we treat, address and consider the symptoms, address the symptoms and minimize the longer term, potential effects! Some rely solely on the use of prescription medications, while others emphasize and prioritize alternative remedies. While we often witness invasive, surgical treatments and many others seem to try to avoid/shy away,of these, and consult alternative health practitioners, including massage therapists, acupuncturists, naturopaths, etc. With this in mind, this article will attempt to briefly consider, examine, review, and discuss these 4 approaches, including the potential benefits and potential effects/risks associated with each.
1.Prescription medications:There are a variety of prescription medications used to control and treat arthritis. Many of these are anti-inflammatory, which includes the steroids and non-steroidal category, while others are analgesics (pain relievers) and perhaps narcotics and/or immunosuppressants. Although many types of arthritis are effective (basically two categories - rheumatoid and osteoarthritis), side effects are obviously often involved. Some of these are minor, while others are much more significant to some!
2.Alternative remedies:There are a variety of alternative remedies used by many to treat the effects of arthritis. Most of us knowGlucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM,etc. and other so-called natural medicines and/or treatments! People experience a variety of levels of success when using these!
3.Surgical/invasive:If symptoms worsen, it is sometimes necessary to resort to certain surgeries and/or treatments. These include: knee replacements; shoulder surgeries/replacements; hip surgery; and/or other joint replacements, etc. Obviously there is always some risk associated with any surgery, plus usually the need for significant physical therapy afterwards, in addition to the fact that not every replacement is successful, etc.
4.Alternative treatments:Physiotherapy and activities (going to a gym, walking, etc.), hydrotherapy, stretching, massage and acupuncture are often tried to relieve some of the symptoms etc. of arthritis. Others have found exercise, weight loss, heating pads, ice packs/cold compress, etc. to be helpful. There is little risk in using these particularly at an earlier stage to try and slow down any progress, for discomfort etc.
If you experience any of the symptoms, pain and discomfort associated with arthritis, you probably recognize that this is an unpleasant, progressive disease. Will you use common sense and focus on the approach that works best for you?
