Hemorrhoids in the rectum occur when the veins do not return enough blood to the heart. When this occurs, the vein walls do not receive enough oxygen and release a substance into the blood that causes them to swell and become inflamed. This swelling weakens them and makes them more likely to break when rubbed, such as during a bowel movement. If your stool is hard, you have an increased chance of rupturing a swelling vein. For this reason, softening your stool is one step to eliminating your hemorrhoids. You can do this by following a diet and…

If your stool is hard, you have an increased chance of rupturing a swelling vein. For this reason, softening your stool is one step to eliminating your hemorrhoids. You can do this by following a diet and using remedies that help relieve constipation.

Hemorrhoids that are enlarged or swollen may exist,

*On the inside just above the muscle that closes the anus and rectum. They are located near the surface of the rectal mucosa

* Externally, they appear on the skin surrounding the anus and protrude or hang outward.

In a sense, hemorrhoids can be thought of as varicose veins of the rectum. Just like varicose veins in the legs, the rectal veins become enlarged and reach the surface of the skin and bulge out.

Hemorrhoids occur when you are constipated for a long time, sit for long hours, lift heavy objects, or are pregnant. If you are constipated, you probably have difficulty having a bowel movement. And when you do this, your stools are usually small, hard, and dry.

If you have to push and strain or sit on the toilet for 10-15 minutes, expect hemorrhoids at some point. Two to three minutes is all you typically need to have a natural bowel movement.

Over 85% of the population has hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are a sign that fecal matter is not passing through your colon as it should. Simple hemorrhoids are not harmful to your health, but hemorrhoids that have formed for a while will cause you some discomfort, such as:

* Mucous discharge

* Bleeding occurs in your stool or drips into the toilet water

* Itching on the outside of the rectum

* Pain in the rectal area and during a bowel movement

* Pain in the rectal area when you sit

* Soft, turgid area in the rectum or anus that makes you feel like something is there.

Contact your doctor if your hemorrhoids are painful, have excessive bleeding, or the color of stool has changed from medium brown to dark brown or black.

Just watch for growths in the rectum, bleeding during bowel movements, and a change in stool color. Then take steps to address these changes by seeing your doctor.
