The thyroid also helps in growing larger

We know that human growth hormone, secreted by our pituitary gland, is the hormone responsible for growth, but there is another important hormone that we need to consider if we want to increase our height. And this is the hormone produced by our thyroid.
The thyroid is the largest gland in our body. It is located on the lower neck below the thyroid cartilage (also known as the Adam's apple in men). Thyroid also helps to grow larger because the thyroxine hormone that this gland produces helps regulate the body's metabolic rate and also controls the oxidation rate in our body. So we need this gland to function properly for maximum increase in height. If you just notice it, that's why people or children with thyroid hormone deficiency don't grow taller and always have a dysfunctional brain.
Unlike the pituitary gland, which can be caused by many things to produce human growth hormone, the thyroid gland only requires one chemical element to function properly and that is iodine. The thyroid combines the tyrosine (essential amino acid) with iodine to make thyroxine. This is the hormone we need to grow taller. We need around 70 to 150 micrograms of iodine from food. Insufficient iodine intake can lead to an enlarged thyroid, also known as goiter. However, too much iodine can also lead to goiter and affect growth and development throughout the body.
Food sources rich in iodine include all types of seafood, especially seaweed. Other sources include asparagus, garlic, seaweed, lima beans, mushrooms, spinach. The best and most common source of iodine are iodized salts.
